I love the differing opinions. On here folks have said she held back but from the sounds of this guy on twitter it was a riff and growl fest To be fair, I’m so good at riffing people often can’t stand up by the time I’m done. |

The Dragon does move...kinda. her head bobs from side to side and wings go up and down, none of the fancy flapping about that we get in London. She's also automated, whereas London is manual.

I’ve just checked on Innuendo/Outuendo and there were comments about the Dragon being smaller but not that he didn’t move!
Perhaps the Dragon trainer is sick.... so they clearly need to get an understudy Dragon operator!

She was on for the matinee as it was a two show day and tonight is press night.
In the last tour Ashleigh always had the show off before press night.

I’m here and 1st u/s Midwife (Amy Goodwin) is on! This excites me muchly!
Grabbed a couple of signatures in the programme at stage door pre-show as I need to shoot off after. The ensemble really are lovely people!
Saw some Wicked royalty too as Hannah Toy and Petra Siniawski came out, if only I had my London programme I could have ticked Ms Toy off my signature list ahead of tomorrow!
Reports of any riffs and subversive acting behaviour at interval!

I’m pretty much convinced Amy & Helen are my favourite ever pairing, there is just something about these two!
Quick updates:
* Dragon eyes light up but no smoke or movement.
* In the Wizard’s lair there was no ensemble monkey bit with them all hanging off the grid, Chistery/Morrible/Wizard just looked at the back wall!
* We had a “look to the western sky” style growl. I believe Ellis’s people are currently onto Ross’s people to discuss breach of trademark!

There were no monkeys hanging from the grid? That's very odd considering they definitely had this on the original tour, and the reveal doesn't really make sense if there isn't anything to reveal...

It must be technical as they’ve always had it. I saw it in Bristol last time but can’t remember not seeing that bit, I’d have probably remembered it being different!? |

At the Wicked Press Night in Bristol last night a couple of classes of young primary school children all trooped in. Not sure of their age but they were ho!ding hands in pairs wearing little fluorescent jackets with the school name on the back. With adults front middle and rear they were definitely 7yrs or under, although this is the minimum age recommendation on the Wicked website I'm not sure it was really appropriate?

I recently saw Wicked on Broadway and was immediately annoyed when two young girls were sat in front of me. They were perhaps 7 or 8 at the most? Anyway, throughout the entire performance they were constantly talking to eachother, stretching their arms (and legs!) into the air in front of them, turning their heads around to look at the audience behind them and just generally causing a great deal of annoyance to me (and the lovely family sitting next to me) for the entire show. I understand that Wicked is by no means a complex show, but I really feel that the age restriction on the show should be 12+, children younger than this really just don't seem to hold the attention span necessary to sit still through a show this long and can't pick up on the themes that run through the show. Even during the spectacle of Defying Gravity one of the girls had her head turned around because she deemed staring at me to be of more interest.
The grandparents of these girls were no better really, talking to them throughout the entire show and not once reprimanding them for their poor behaviour. It really makes you wonder why they would pay $240 per seat (I found out the prices of their seats) so they could not pay attention throughout the show. Surely a day at an activity/play centre would have been a much better use of that kind of money. Whenever I see children sitting near me in Wicked, I just groan as time and time again they prove they can't behave appropriately in the theatre. I think perhaps I have only ever had one child behave well in my many times seeing Wicked, and that was because she fell asleep! Rant over, sorry! (and no offence to anyone who brings well behaved children to the theatre, perhaps I've just been unlucky to always be stuck with the brats!)

Home now and this cast for me tonight was truly special. The ensemble were energetic and engaged throughout, no way were they going through the emotions.
Helen and Amy gave it all the feels in the 2nd act, you could feel their pain matched with their joy in For Good.
Anyone booked to see this on tour is in for a treat!
NGD was good and Amy has power when she wants to use it, as a whole performance her Elphaba is so well thought through and a great package. If you want a power belter then you might be disappointed - she’s no Jackie Hughes but despite JH being one of my favourites I didn’t miss the power tonight.
Only thing of note in the 2nd half was the freedom of the monkeys... when the Wizard sets them free the cage (which had been lowered down) lifted half up and the monkey ensemble jumped out onto the stage, three of them did a little move like in the very opening of the show, plus Chistery and the two that fly - again I can’t remember if that’s how it’s meant to be in line with London or if it was different tonight because of an issue like in the first act.
Go and see this cast!

I honestly tell people to behave now if their sh*t bad banners are distracting me. I don't see why I need to sit through their own performance of bad behavior and misery. |

Hippodrome has a deliciously high rake which means you’re fine sat anywhere. I’d avoid row AA though. It’s too low down and the leg room is minimal |

Row H usually gives a great view, sat there many times.
Avoid AA and A if you care about seeing feet, otherwise you get a good view sat anywhere in the stalls. I've only ever had my view blocked once by some ridiculously tall person and even then it wasn't completely blocked.
Booked myself another trip for Friday evening. £27.50 seats are too good to pass up on. That's the fourth time I've booked for Bristol now, also there on Tuesday and the final Saturday. Hoping Nikki gets an evening show during the 9 show week as I'd love to catch her Elphie
