Enjoy! I'm not seeing the tour until late April in Birmingham - I'm currently taking a bit of an extended Wicked hiatus. Haven't seen the show since Willemijn's last two shows.

Good to hear. I can cope with the second row, but that new mini front row that they put in is just too close for me. I did front row there for the last tour and it was ok..... I wouldn’t do it again lol!

I’m sat front row tonight. It’s not exactly the best in terms of view or legroom but I’m a lover of facial expressions (and cheaper ticket prices) so it won for tonight 🙈

Cracking view of the conductor! It’s a full cast, all principals and ensemble are on! First time I’ve ever seen a wicked performance (and actually any performance come to think of it) where there hasn’t been a swing onstage. I’ve sat front row at the Hippodrome many times, just not since the refurb with the new front row. Yes I’m looking up a lot but I’m used to that, the legroom’s not great but the show is distracting me from that so it’s a win really. Absolutely loving it so far, Amy and Helen have a great chemistry together, can’t wait to see them develop as the run goes on. They both have potential to become my favourite Elphaba and Glinda respectively.

Just in from the opening night in Bristol.
Overall we found it all a bit average. Amy Ross is a good actress but plays it safe, she doesn't have a very strong belt and the climaxes of her big numbers were uncomfortable to listen to. Helen Woolf is a decent enough Glinda, if not particularly standout. The two leads have a nice chemistry and seemed to be enjoying themselves.
The other principals were ok, the ensemble was ok, the orchestrations a bit thin. The audience didn't laugh were they were meant to. Scaled-down set looked a bit panto and even dirty in places?
I can't think of anything that was particularly memorable. Sorry!

Vocally, it's worth remembering that they've not performed in front of an audience for a month so it does take a week or so for the voice to settle again

So overall thoughts on tonight. Amy Ross - I really enjoyed her Elphaba. One of the strongest acting Elphaba’s I’ve seen. As for her voice it’s there, I just feel she played it safe, give her time and it’ll be there. Helen Woolf plays an emotional Glinda. Loved her voice and overall acting choices. The chemistry between them was one of the best things about the show. So nice to see a genuine chemistry/friendship come across on stage. Kim Ismay was the standout among the remaining principle cast. The others were all ok but nothing to write home about so to say. The ensemble had a good energy, not the strongest right now but let them settle in to the roles again and I’m sure they’ll tighten up.
Right now I’d say I prefer this touring cast to the current London cast.

How does the orchestral setup for the tour compare to the production in town? I remember seeing the tour a few years ago in Glasgow and thought it was much thinner but then again isn't London smaller than it was when it opened?
Something which interests me. Perhaps a real Wicked geek can help me on this one?

I’m looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow night, I thought Helen Woolf was so comedic with great acting when I saw her in Zurich, she was definitely the stand out of the cast!
As to the tightness of ensemble etc I agree with what others have said, they only did tech rehearsals on Tuesday ahead of opening night so probably only had one full run after a month off. The ensemble were brilliant in Zurich!

From the descriptions of Amy Ross, she sounds like she is a really healthy singer with a strong knowledge of how to protect her voice.

I love the differing opinions. On here folks have said she held back but from the sounds of this guy on twitter it was a riff and growl fest

The reviews of Amy Ross seem to generally be rather positive, with many remarking a massive improvement in her performance since she began. This is really promising, especially considering I will be seeing her perform at least 10 times throughout the tour!

How many people travelled to Zurich and also to Bristol last night? You could count them on one hand!
If these commentators are just going by snippets of audios online it's about as use as armchair football supporters commenting on the few seconds of highlights they heard on the sports bulletin.

We need comparative bar charts and comprehensive riff breakdowns! Don’t forget the even more important baa charts for every Dillamond riff there is.
