That would make sense! Che, Eva & Peron have been cast already according to the Cape Town info page. Emma Kingston is playing Eva (as has been previously mentioned I believe) who was apparently "personally chosen" by ALW, Tim Rice & Hal Prince. She's done a bit in London; Les Mis, In The Heights & currently in Fiddler in Chichester. She has quite the voice on her, I'm sure there'll be quite a bit of her singing on YouTube if you fancy a listen. If she's been personally chosen, would she be the one to be taken to Broadway, I wonder? If it comes to fruition, of course. www.whatsonincapetown.com/post/evita-artscape-theatre/Isn't every actress in a show "personally chosen?" Trevor Jackson, Pippa Allion, Debbie O'Brien, Jill Green or David Grindrod are in theory just office admin! Well, ish. Whilst an actor is chosen by the casting/creative team in the end, it's more 'whittling down' from how-many-hundred people they saw. The fact that it's specified that the original creative team for this show had 'personally chosen' her, implies that maybe there was no one else in the running to begin with.

I imagine "personally chosen" just means ALW & co. had the final say in it

So obviously this finishes at the Phoenix on the 14th of October and then it's doing a Wednesday to Saturday engagement in Manchester at the beginning of December but what's happening in between? More tour dates? More engagements abroad? They wouldn't have a nearly two month break and then start back in Manchester would they? And I'm guessing the end of Manchester will be the end of the tour? It will have been touring nearly a year then.

YEA! The Power of Christ compels us!!! Can't wait to be splashed with holy water!
Evita is going to Dubai in Feb 2018. And charging outrageous prices. Speaking of which, are there any day seats or discounts for this at the Phoenix? Monkey? Help. I looked at the website yesterday and was horrified at the ticket prices.

Speaking of which, are there any day seats or discounts for this at the Phoenix? Monkey? Help. I looked at the website yesterday and was horrified at the ticket prices. Yes, the prices are high. The only discount I can see on the website is for ATG members and that is only for £10 off the £65 tickets only. However, TKTS is routinely selling most ticket levels for more than 50% off. So probably worth checking.

It is heavily discounted at TKTS. Top price stalls down from £65 to £30.50 53%off.

Given that it was discounted before it even opened is this production sh*tting through the profits or is it a bit of a savvy move? Budget aiming to break even on the sale prices and then add on to get the full ticket price. So people think they're getting a bargain whereas the sale price is all the producer aimed to achieve anyway?

Also Todaytix are discounting but not as much as I noted earlier for TKTS. Main stalls £19.50 off.

It's a pretty budgety production using lots of click track (the fake chorus in the funeral scene is particularly jarring), I only counted about 6 musicians. Wouldn't expect it to be particularly expensive to run.

O. M. Gosh. How smashing. I love Tina. God bless her, she takes herself so very seriously but that voice is just something else.

Tina Arena to take the title role in the Australian production At the risk of appearing ageist - she'll be 50 by the time the production opens next year - which seems perhaps a tad old to play someone who we see as a teenager through to her death at age 33. Though I'm sure the wigs will be good - and maybe she's a great actress.

Put her in a fancy wig and a nice frock and it'll all be worth it just to hear Tiny Tina belting out "What's new, Buenos Aires?". A few years ago now but this will give you a bit of an idea . .

Enjoyed this production when it played it Dublin- Emma Hatton was ill so Kellie Gnauck was on as Eva. Her accent was a little dodgy at times, but her vocals were perfect and she was very convincing in the role.
Gian Marco Schiaretti was great as Che. Visually, it wasn't the most exciting production in the world but it's a good evening's entertainment nonetheless and I found it quite emotional in places.
^Tina Arena sounds great!

Perhaps that's true. They need to go for someone more like Madonna really. Oh. Seriously though, that is just a concert version so it's not going to be exactly how she'd do it in the show. She's done musicals before (Notre Dame, Chicago, Cabaret) so she should be fine.

Looks like it's going back out on tour around the UK in the Spring. Is there really anybody left who actually wants to see this?!
