Fabulous, I never got to see this in Sheffield but was dying too. And glad to see that Rebecca is still with the show, she's marvelous!

Fabulous, I never got to see this in Sheffield but was dying too. And glad to see that Rebecca is still with the show, she's marvelous! Happy to see Rebecca back on a West End stage, right where she belongs - if only it was another show. Seen it in Sheffield, and despite not knowing who to blame (technically, everything (sound, orchestra, set, cast etc.) was great), I didn't really enjoy Showboat (I guess these old-fashioned shows just aren't my cup of tea). As big as the crush I'm having on her is, I can't get myself to sit through this again.

I will certainly be sitting through this again - I thought it was marvellous. I will miss Michael Xavier though.

Very happy to find that the first preview coincides with my next trip to London.... just have to hope that they don't end up cancelling!

Interesting, I have never seen Show Boat so I think I will simply have to go. Does anyone know how big the orchestra was during the Crucible run?

When will the tickets be on sale? Londontheatre.co.uk said today at 10 AM but I cannot find any place where they are actually sold.

Really want to see this - loved Rebecca Trehern in City of Angels. Think it is going to be a solo trip though, as it doesn't appeal to my husband or usual theatre going friends.
Anyone got an opinion on the side seats at this theatre? I am looking at a £39.50 tickets which for the date I want are near to the front side on.

Thanks! I have booked my ticket for July ( a good month to be on a boat on the Mississippi…).

I'm really very excited to see this as I never managed to get up to Sheffield. The cast is delectable too, any guesses as to who's going to replace Xavier?
Also, before anyone asks...
DAY SEATS* A limited number of Day Seats are available for personal callers at the New London Box Office from 10am (from Midday on Boxing Day & New Year's Day) on the day of the performance. (Max. 2 per person & strictly subject to availability)

Castingwise, I wonder if they might be considering opening it with a short-term performer in the role of Gaylord then inviting Xavier back once he's done with Sunset (maybe even with a second press night). There's only a month of overlap, and they're booking until January, so it's not like it would be a short-term thing for him. I suppose it depends what he might want too, he could easily have other irons in the fire...

Hurrah. Excellent news
When I saw it in Sheffers I was head into the stage and the view was excellent. I did hear a few folk in the interval who were sat on the sides and and couldn't appreciate Blossom in its all its glory

Replacements for Xavier? My guesses would be: Hadley Fraser Dan Burton Julian Ovenden Alex Gaumond or possibly a big name from the States? If so, please let it be Michael C.Hall.

What was the name of one of the songs in last year's Jest End? Yeah, Killian yeah? Seriously, I could see Oliver Tompsett as Gaylord.

Seriously, I could see Oliver Tompsett as Gaylord. I know it's incredibly childish but that character name gives you so many options for innuendo . . .

Isn't innuendo double-entendre? With a name like that, we're firmly in single-entendre territory, surely!

is it sure Michael won't be in it? He'll be too busy helping Glenn Close with her turban. I've seen 'Fatal Attraction'. That's a woman you don't cross. Show Boat sails into London's glitzy West End on 9th April, Sunset Boulevard is on from 1st April to 7th May.

Hard to say at this point, Jelly Bean. From what they have on sale so far, it looks like the entire front section of stalls has gone, and they will play almost on 3 sides on a thrust stage. If that happens, then the sides should be good, I think. When I saw it in Sheffers I was head into the stage and the view was excellent. I did hear a few folk in the interval who were sat on the sides and and couldn't appreciate Blossom in its all its glory Thanks for this theatremonkey and Reich. I've blown my theatre budget and gone for the face on ticket. You only live once......

Isn't innuendo double-entendre? Innuendo is Italian for "suppository." (Bob Monkhouse - may his dear soul rest in peace) And I always thought it was a Queen song. You learn something new every day

Top prices in excess of £125 apparently, but mid-prices at £75 and £50-odd.
