Misc:Someone should really tell Vivienne that "to thine own self be true" was actually written by Nigel Bottom, and not William Shakespeare. That line is spoken by Polonius in Hamlet which was definitely written by Shakespeare |

No, the poem was originally written by Nigel Bottom, but his stupid brother Nick didn't see what a great poem it was (I mean it's beautiful - it's like good line AND good advice) so he forced Nigel into writing a Musical about Omelettes (what a stupid idea). Unfortunately, when the show flopped, the Bottom brothers were sent to America, so William Shakespeare (who had sneaked into the brothers' group(e)) stole that poem and became unjustifiably famous for it. Heck, he even derived his tragedy's name Hamlet from the Bottom brother's Omelette (see the similarity? I bet he made that prince Danish just because of the pastry too). (just be be entirely clear: of course it was a joke and talkstageytome is completely right) |

I'm so glad the rights keep the original show rather than the re-vamp. I just came from an amateur production in Bedford which was amazing! The two dogs had a life of their own though... the little one was terrified and the other one ran about the stage like her was the star! but brilliant to see a production with There, Right There and the show itself as it was. Also interesting to see they made Kat, the intelligent Delta Nu more of a major role. She was much more prominent than before, every scene with the three girls were changed to include her too! |

Can so,embody please explain to me about the set. Seeing production shots, there seems to be 2 wagons and a lift. The scene in the salon seems abit bare across the whole stage whereas it fitted quite nicely in London. Does it look abit silly in a huge neon pink box with a triangle at the top?! And also how do all those balloons appear across the stage, are they brought on by cast?
Does anybody think this set is better than the original one?

Set is quite minimal, with the majority of it being suggestive (e.g. a door, chairs, a desk etc.) but for me this wasn't distracting. The lift bought on the dressing room for OMIGOD and Take It Like a Man, and was also used as an entrance by cast members, most notably the Greek Chorus in Positive. The rest of the set is wheeled on from either side of the stage (so chairs, tables, benches etc.) The screen is used to project images representative of set, and also shows Brooke's exercise video. It's not really noticeable or distracting in most scenes, and didn't look silly at all. Balloons were brought on by members of the cast for Whitney's party, and remained there during Chip On My Shoulder (acknowledged by Emmett in Elle's room on the 'hello Kitty' line.) until the 'go back to school with a big chip on your shoulder' line, when they were taken off by cast members. Definitely more minimalistic that the West End one (probably down to budget), but this wasn't detrimental to the overall production. Not for me, at least. |

If the production does tour, which I hope it will, then maybe the set would be maximised abit? E.g. More set for the Harvard scenes or Salon scene. The jail was represented by the door frames with bars in them, and blue lighting to get rid of all the pink. From what I can remember at least! |

Who do you guys think has been the best Paulette from the UK productions? The London ones all seem amazing from what I've heard, I loved Denise Van Outen!
Also, what about the UK tour? There was loads of them! Liz, Claire, Jennifer, Nikki... Who was the best?

I noticed that Keisha Atwell tweeted that she was joining the cast. Does this mean that someone has left? I haven't seen an official announcement and the show is only running for another week or so here...

Aren't they on a roadtrip (roadtrip!) to Seoul after the run in Leicester? So I think it does make sense to get a new Serena if Cristina had to pull out. |

Ooh perhaps. That's what I thought initially, but as both times I saw the show without Serena it seemed to work perfectly (with Margot and Pilar sharing the lines) I just presumed they would keep it that way. Exciting if so. I'd have liked to see the show with all 3 Delta Nus, but I'm back at uni now, and too far away to make the trip (affordably).
Actually I just remembered that in a recent interview Jon Robyns said that not all the cast members would be going to Seoul, so she could be taking over any number of characters? But I think a Delta Nu seems most likely!

I realised the Leicester cast is really smaller compared to the London/Tour cast. Is this noticeable? Lots of roles must be dog Lee up and ensembles smaller?

Well that was certainly an experience Highlights: The giant museum gift shop pencil Bruiser played by one of the girls running offstage and making dog noises Elle's wig bearing an uncanny resemblence to tagliatelle Elle being nearly a foot taller than her sorority sisters The shop workers wearing lab coats The fact that all this is excusable for a standard school production but going by the advert at the end this is a show put on by a performing arts school |
