Why won’t they just let it rest in peace instead of exhuming its poor corpse with less & less resource & creativity? I dread to think how it will have been cheapened further.
When I look at my first few posts about this show they were full of wonder & excitement; genuinely impressed with its scale and grandeur & the fact that someone had spent that much on a new show. (Not including the script obvs 😂) Now every new show seems to be a cost cutting exercise from the get go.

Despite that I’ll take Bat back in any way it comes, especially so if Rob and Sharon are attached to this. That might be wishful thinking though.

Glenn Adamson in Insta had said he may or may not be performing in the mystery show on Sunday.

He'll have to get back to Battersea pretty quickly.

Great news about Glenn, Rob and Sharon coming back for this tour. I'll be booking the Liverpool stop. Happy times.

Hmmmm. I am rather conflicted about this. I ADORED the original production - it truly was the nearest we have been to a mega musical since the 90's. Across Manchester, Coliseum, Dominion and Oberhausen (Germany) I must have been 30+ times. The first tour was GOOD, but not amazing. Scaled back a lot but a great lighting and sound design carried it through. It was hampered by absolutely appalling post Covid audience behaviour though. I mean next level. The ATG venues were almost no go zones. (Nice that it's starting in Edinburgh, I assume to honour the fact that last time it was there there were literal fights, FOH assaults and calling of the Police) Slightly concerned that this is based on the "spectacular" arena tour of Australia/NZ. My good friend viserys saw this and described it as anything BUT spectacular. With literally zero (more or less) set. Anyway, those songs are incredible - so I will no doubt be visiting this and praying that the audience are ok and they pull off the production. It has the potential to be epic. Or not! (Oh and I adore Sharon and Rob - they have been a part of this show since day zero and are both astounding in their roles. So I feel slightly bad saying this, but wonderful though they are, isn't it time to let someone else have a go?) Anyway. A fascinating announcement no doubt!

So. ‘Bat’ in concert with great singers. Do not call it a musical.

Weirdly, ATG seems to have a few theatres pencilled in for 2025 but links break when you try clicking through. Suggests an announcement is imminent.

According to ATG it will see Glenn Adamson, Sharon Sexton, Rob Fowler as Strat, Sloane and Falco, with Katie Tonkinson as Raven.
Katie was previously an absolutely breathtaking Valkyrie with an epic range and belt - really excited to see her as Raven.
See you there Bat fans. Booking opens Mon 24 June apparently.

Haha - yes indeed see you there! While I remain a bit concerned re the staging, you can't keep a score as epic as this down. Not sure I ever saw Katie cover Raven last time but have heard amazing things about her :-)

I saw Katie as Raven on her debut no less and she was stunning, far better than the (too old) first cast, so I'm happy for her.
Everything else about this is a big resounding MEH. And I definitely don't need to see that godawful barebones staging from Oz again. I still regret this trip to see Bat down under as the biggest waste of time and money in my life.

Has anyone been able to put together a list of possible venues / dates? I am going to have to devolve booking tickets to my partner on Monday and need to plan, lol!

I'll throw my house and car at this show for all its camp nonsense and ridiculous script. I'm in it for the bangers and the cast. They could run a chrome turd polishing class on stage while tibetan monks hum the tunes for all I care.

The article said "Following Edinburgh, the tour will visit Portsmouth, Liverpool Empire, Bromley. Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Aberdeen, Peterborough, Cheltenham Glasgow, Leeds, Woking, Plymouth, London, Leicester, Milton Keynes Wycombe, Southend, Sunderland Dartford, Bristol, and Northampton, with further dates to be announced." No dates yet that I'm aware of, apart from for Edinburgh and Birmingham.

In Glenn’s defence, there was nothing wrong with that vocal performance. It was just on an empty stage with just a microphone. And yes, musicals should just be able to exist on record, but this one wasn’t designed as such, and to me thats why I can’t let go of the original production. It blew my mind.

I"ll be booking, while it keeps getting more and more reduced, it still has some great songs and vocals.

Meatloaf must be spinning in his grave.. Meatloaf doesn't spin, he rocks. He kinda stumbled the last time I saw him live. Only the full production going on behind him made it semi-enjoyable.
