I believe that bears are naturally quite good in the water. I mean after all, they catch salmon swimming upstream.

Apart from the height of the stage (which isn't particularly high) there are pieces of set on the left side, including rocks, discarded TV sets and other debris. The rocks are often used by actors to sit or stand on so there would be a fair bit of blocking I think. That's not the case in the right side though, and that's the bit of the stage where that big stunt is done do there can't be anything obstructing the edge in that area. Maybe the extreme end of the row is a problem because of how they've designed the set.
Speaking of the stage, there is one hell of a rake on it. Seriously, I'm surprised the actors were able to dance properley it's that steep.

Also, I know it's partly illusion but the set goes REALLY far back, and quite a way back to the left where there's a whole separate "area". If you're going front row or anywhere near the front of the stalls sit centre or over to the right.

Yes, deffo avoid the front left of the circle. Never noticed if the front right of the circle was cheaper as the left was but you'd be fine there if its the cheaper seats you were after. Plus the speakers are very loud indeed. Great for me, not so much for my tinnitus suffering brother. He had his earplug so it didn't matter.

ATG says front row of circle is restricted view, in Manc OH, is this the case? How bad? Went last night and actually had front row circle. Bought it from box office on the day and they explained front row has "restricted view" because of the rail. I'm 6'3" so it was no problem for me. I was pretty central, slightly to the right and saw everything. As for the show, amazing set, superb cast, excellent vocals, but a plot so poor it's laughable. Really can't believe that's the best someone could come up with. Agree with an earlier post that Act 2 is a little dreary and ballad heavy! Glad I went, but worry the critics in London will crucify it.

The legacy of Queen songs Vs legacy of Meatloaf songs. I think people would be more forgiving of WWRU against BOAH given the greater legacy of Queens material.

Bat Out of Hell has sold over 46 million copies world wide. Admittedly Queen are no slouches in the sales department either but this is across many albums with the best selling uk album ever with their Greatest Hits with just over 8 million copies sold. I don't know what this means for anything but I think it's status as one of the classic albums of all time will help it do just fine. The key will be not to pretend that it is anything other than absolute nonsense with fabulous talent & production values.

There's also the inherent theatricality of epics like "Bat out of Hell" (the song itself) that sounds like it was born for a stage adaptation. I'm generally not a fan of jukebox musicals and I'm not even that much of a Meat Loaf or Steinman fan, but when this was announced, I was off to Manchester like... uh, a bat out of hell? because it sounded like such a cool idea and I wanted to see what they were doing with it. Queen classics like "We are the champions" and "We will rock you" are (in my imagination anyway) better suited to the football terraces. The only song to ever stand out for me in WWRY was the glorious rock ballad "Only the good die young".

Me and the lovely viserys saw this together last week, we had a mini theatreboard meet. I'm actually thinking of seeing it again before it closes in Manc. It's a rollicking good night out (and I DESPISED WWRY).

It's a rollicking good night out (and I DESPISED WWRY). Oh me too! I went at the beginning...shambles...a few months in to see if it had tightened up...awful mess...a nonsense. My daughter was in it a few years ago which I enjoyed because of her, but the basic product was the same. Great songs performed well against the backdrop of a ridiculous garish neon nightmare and appalling book. 'Bat Out of Hell' isn't far from this but has a better set, a greater sense of danger and a couple of absolutely belting set pieces. Like Tony Vincent before him Andrew Polec is a real find and can have a fantastic career if he makes the right choices going forward. Don't know if he'll want to stay over here, but if he does I look forward to seeing whatever he does next.

I'm tempted to go back again to see Andrew Polek. He was off the night I saw it.

Looks like I will get back to London end of June - and am seriously considering seeing this, but I'm just not familiar enough with the London Coliseum (especially at the ticket prices, I saw). How is the Upper Circle?

Saw this again tonight and loved it again.
The singing by all of the leads is absolutely fantastic. the lighting design really struck me too. In Heavan Can Wait it's absolutely beautiful. I'm a sucker for a bit of lighting.
If you're seeing it at The Coliseum just be aware that the set extends waaay out to both sides and the back of the stage. If you pick a seat on either the extreme left or right then you are going to miss stuff and that's why they're installing tv screens. If you're doing it anyway pick a seat on the left, you'll miss less.

When I saw it in Manchester, and having been to the Coliseum last week, it struck me that they have really shoehorned that set into the Opera House. The Coliseum stage is so much wider than it is in Manchester. Can't wait to see how they expand it!
