WWRY had 40 great queen songs to choose from this has four or five. I don't know anything about this show, but saying that Meat Loaf had only four or five great songs is plain wrong. No it is not. Name five hit songs released by Meatloaf ? Meatloaf has had one number one song. Queen by contrast had 39 top 30 songs in the UK.

Five you say? Dead Ringer for Love Bat out of Hell Id do anything for Love Its all coming back to me now Modern Girl Objects in the Rear View Mirror (may appear closer than they are)
Oh sorry that was 6. He was never as big as Queen certainly, thats not in doubt here but he has had a career where he has easily sold out big arena tours and had 6 uk top 10 hits. Numerous top 10 albums (a format he was far better known for)
Not a massive fan myself but to suggest he had only ever had 1 hit song is clearly factually incorrect

6 songs does not make a musical. And there are a couple of pointless answers in that list of songs.

Why are they pointless. They are well known songs from Meatloafs back catalogue. The album Bat out of Hell was originally written as a rock opera

First you mentioned then it was and now it's According to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists#80_million_to_99_million_records Meat Loaf has sold 80 million CDs. Bat out of hell spent 485 weeks in the UK charts an won 10x Platinum in the UK. Bat of of hell II was #1 on the UK Albums Chart for eleven weeks, and Bat III still managed to reach #3. infofreako has already replied, but if you want to focus on UK singles charts success, here you go: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat_Loaf_discography#SinglesNot as big as Queen, but saying that Meat Loaf didn't have five hit songs is wrong.

Like inoffensive pop songs about nothing in particular don't sell in the bucketloads? The best known songs aren't always the best songs, and vice versa. You're very much moving the goalposts by asking specifically for *hit* songs.

Not looking good. The producer looks 90 years old, and they only ever show one song in promos. Nothing about plot. WWRY had 40 great queen songs to choose from this has four or five. There are 7 songs on the original 'Bat Out Of Hell' album alone. One of the biggest selling albums of all time. Not to mention the follow up albums and other big songs Steinman has to draw on. It's fine if you don't like Meat Loaf but there are already enough "alternative facts" these days, without you creating more.

Not looking good. The producer looks 90 years old, and they only ever show one song in promos. Nothing about plot. WWRY had 40 great queen songs to choose from this has four or five. WWRY also had the worst reviews (think Viva Forever) when it opened and was in danger of closing due to poor ticket sales, until the cast performed on the Queen's Jubilee concert. And to ding this show for revealing nothing of its plot while comparing it to WWRY is amazing. WWRY had one of the worst books ever. Ben Elton didn't have the first clue how to write a musical. I saw it in previews and then again a few months before it closed. If anything, the relentless tinkering and updating of certain parts, while leaving other references untouched, just made the show infinitely more horrible to endure. There is a synopsis of the plot on the show's official website, just FYI. But I think it's fair to say that people won't be booking this for its plot, they'll be going to hear the songs (17 of his back catalogue and 2 new songs written for the show, a fact also on the official site). Also, there are 4 producers. Are they all 90 years old?

I guess part of the "problem" of Meat Loaf not having that many No. 1 hits is the sheer length of many of his songs - they are simply too long to be played on the radio. And I really don't like the shortened radio edits they made for some of them.
However, I, too, think that Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman's back catalogue is big enough to fill an entire show.

General Managers aren't producers though. No, they just hire and fire everyone, deal with the finances, and advise the Producers. But I'm sure it'll be fine.

The set does look impressive, but these promo vids are all the same: the leading man, shirtless, writhing around on the floor, looking like he's off his tits on ketamine whilst every other cast member runs around behind him. It looks like the choreographer has insisted they keep moving. I'm not sure I could suffer 2 and a half hours of that. The Manchester Press will love it, because they're writing for their readership, where there's little theatrical competition for a big budget show that's premiering there. But I think the London critics may ask where the subtlety has gone. It all sounds a bit Spinal Tap to me.

That's a bit mean, he's not particularly my type but I have plenty of friends that would like nothing better.
