I'll just whinge about any changes for about five minutes then won't even be fussed by the my next show, from experience with me if I don't like something the first time there's a good chance I will the second.
Either way I like this cast, the only new one for me will be Ben so it will be him and any changes I'll be focasing on.
Just gotta actually get a ticket for tonight haha

Is this amazing theatre? No. In fact the narrative is pretty pants. Is it enjoyable? Absolutely. First time seeing it and it really does hang together on Bev's ridiculous vocals. I want to go and sit through two hours again just to see and hear her sing 'I will always love you' another time. Great first preview from my POV.

There was mid song applause during IWALY and a standing ovation as she was finishing it. |

No major changes from the tour, I could happily listen to Beverley sing for hours, her Greatest Love Of All was beautiful. She's such a emotional Rachel at the end!
Audience around me were great, some shout outs especially during the karaoke scene.
Also it's the tour house.

Enjoyed this on Friday evening! It is a show that does exatly what it says on the tin! Terrific performances from Beverely Knight and Rachel John - amazing vocals from both. Ben Richards made a sexy bodyguard and his appearances went down very well with the ladies of the audience.
Of course its the musical numbers ( and there are lots of them ) when the show really takes off - the dialogue scenes are a bit pedestrian. Only slight quibble is that the tour sets look a bit lost on the Dominion stage with the portals brought in either side to cover the lack of set and it did look a bit thin at times - especially the Oscar sequence at the end. Not as lavish as the production at the Adelphi. But its the music that matters and the show delivers where it matters.
A full standing ovation at the end. Running time 2.20 including a 20 minute interval! Very slick for the first preview but then it has been touring. A good undemanding night out.

I caught the tour a few months ago and thought is was utterly abismal (although Rachel John was an absolutely breathtaking Rachel!). Set was cheap looking, dance numbers were underpowered and the story was cheesy but not in an enjoyable way. I must be missing something though, as lots of people seem to be loving it!
I love Beverley and Rachel so this seems like vocally at least I'd love it. Might give it a go if I've got some free time in London, if nothing else it'd be good to hear Beverley sing IWALY again. She was on fire at West End Live!

I saw her in Memphis, which she was superb in, enjoyed her in Cats also.
The Bodyguard is her hailed role, you may of seen her on a off day, anyway need to see this for Beverley.

I've seen her at least six times Including her last show. And I don't mind seeing her again. But...She's not an actress. Not even a singer who can act. The woman is talented, I like her. But she can't act. |

Well I saw this tonight and Beverly WASNT on. I didn't realise she didn't do Monday's. It was low rent to say the least.
Basically melodies and Nicky the sisters excellent vocals aside it is a bad show and doesn't fit in the Dominium. Cheaper set, awkward dialogue, bad acting and its strung along by a thread.
Shame they didn't use the wooden cabin from the Adelphi either.
Ending is fun but all a bit panto and rushed. 6/10 Need to see Beverly in the role.

I thought Beverley was excellent in Memphis, and Rachel John was even better. I didn't see the Bodyguard during its initial run (doesn't really appeal), but I'm tempted to given both are now in the cast...

I was at the show last night and came out feeling a little disappointed.
I had seen this at the Adelphi towards the end of its run with Alexandra Burke and had really enjoyed it, it’s not the greatest show but it had creative moments (the stalker) and love Whitney Houston numbers but boy does this get a little lost at the Dominion theater.
The tour set they are using just looks cheap and just can’t cover the stage so it looks so sparse, I was disappointed with all the changes to ‘The Stalker’ in the original run he had a freaky presence throughout but he barely registered in Act 1, it really lacked the sense of peril in the new version. The cabin scene I remember being such more effective in the original run, here the stalker just enters stage left and once again it just loses all the tension
Also I got confused with the reorder of songs, was ‘Queen of the Night’ always at the beginning?
Rachel John shone though throughout whilst it felt more like Beverley was just going through the motions and I wasn’t convinced with her performance (she didn’t compare to me with Alexandra Burke). Ben Richards does fine here (he’s handsome too!!).
I look forward to ‘The Bodyguard’ coming onto the amateur scene in a few years’ time, it felt lost in such a big theater that I could imagine it playing better in a smaller space like Brideswell.
This version is not a patch on the original run, I still enjoyed the night but I couldn’t help but compare it to what I had seen in 2014. Did I have a little dance at the end – yes of course I did!!

Im sad you were dissapointed, i loved the show at the Adelphi. I havent seen the Dominion production yet so I can't really comment haha until I see it haha. Queen of the Night has always been thenopening number, but its production has changed since the Adelphi. |

Row A, 30 seats, £25 Monday to Thursday / £27.50 Friday and Saturday from 10am at the box office. Ah excellent, I really like the front row at the Dominion! |
