Will it be Alexandra again? The baby will be one year old by the time the tour starts. I’d prefer someone different this time but her name will shift tickets soiwouldnt be surprised if it’s her. Zoe Burkitt was good apparently? I never saw her in it.

I saw Alexandra twice, I'd love it to be a new face. Zoe Birkett was meant to be fab and she may be bored of Moulin Rouge by then, so we can hope.

Wonder if she'd want to go into the Bodyguard straight afterwards.

Thank you for not shaming me in the spelling of her name 🥴 Well if Alexandra is out, and I hope she is for only selfish reasons that I’ve seen her twice in it, who else? I think they need a name to sell this. I suppose a fantastic high profile Frank could work but we need a fabulous woman who can handle those Houston songs with aplomb.

Saw Jenny Fitzpatrick in Rock of Ages last year and she was wasted in such a small role with a great powerful voice, she'd be fab in the lead role.

Melody Thornton (Pussycat Dolls) has just been announced as the lead. I'm curious to see who will be cast as Frank Farmer now.

I think she has a great voice, thats not the greatest video. I heard nothing but positive things about her performance in China. Not a massive fan of the show but now Alexandra Burke isn't in it I may revisit
Plus there is always this classic moment from melody's pussycat doll days. Love to have been a fly on the wall backstage afterwards

Intrigued to see Melody taking on lead role in big UK tour. Hope she can do Whitney justice!

Did anyone catch Melody’s version of I Have Nothing on EPOS?

Did anyone catch Melody’s version of I Have Nothing on EPOS? Just listened to it back, ok but not brilliant . Her voice can't hit the high notes required.

I'd be perfectly fine with Glennis Grace doing a run of this show, but I know she's no longer in the right age bracket.
She could, however, sing the living sh*t out of it and sound EXACTLY right.

Looks like I am the first to see this. I saw the matinee yesterday in Sunderland I saw it previously with Alexandra Burke but can't remember much about it, bar terrible audience behaviour. There are now pre show announcements to unwrap your sweets, turn off your phone and don't sing along until the finale. It was played twice, although the last time was about ten minutes before the show. Really it needs to play just before curtain up as many of those who need to hear it will be in the bar! As for the the actual show. I enjoyed it! A good set with some projections. For a tour that begun less than a month ago I think it's in very good shape already. I saw Samantha Mbolekwa as Rachel (Melody doesn't do matinees) and I really enjoyed her performance. Emily Mae Walker as her sister Nicki was also outstanding. Such a powerful voice. I also loved the young lad who played Rachel's son. So talented. Sadly there was no cast board so I am unsure who I saw. Ensemble were also really sharp and full of energy.

fabulous show in Edinburgh tonight. Melody was brilliant. Not the best actress but her vocals and dancing more than made up for it. Her voice really carried in the huge Edinburgh Playhouse auditorium. she is every bit Rachel Marron the pop star.
Emily Mae as Nicki was also incredible.
not got too much to add but I really enjoyed it!

Problem also is that the show starts with that sound effect which unfailingly causes the audience NOT to settle down and pay attention but to laugh/shriek/talk to eachother which seems to set the tone for the rest of it.

A few thoughts on last night's show in Liverpool. Having seen Melody Thornton as RM, the acting part for me was very 1D in that there wasn't any real change in her line delivery depending on the situation she was in. I wanted a bit more emotional depth in MT's portrayal of RM to make her more believable and a rounded individual. Where MT won me over was with the singing (and dancing) of those classic Whitney H's songs. MT sounded and looked great on stage. Certainly, from the back of the stalls at the Empire I didn't have any issues with the hearing her over the fantastic 6-piece orchestra.
Emily-Mae as Nikki was also a big win for me last night. Vocally superb both in her solo numbers and duetting with Melody. Also, a shout out to the young lad who played Fletch (Kaylenn Aires-Fonseca I think). He could really dance and not a bad singer as well during the finale. The ensemble also looked and danced great (they even had different costumes for each of the songs).
I have to say, with the pre-show announcements of no singing to the end the audience last night seemed to behave themselves and I wasn't aware of anybody trying to join in mid-show. Also, a big shoutout to the FOH team at the Empire. Not only did they quickly respond to anybody using a mobile during the show, but the quick response to a medical situation with an elderly lady a few seats down from me just before the end of Act 1.

Looks like Melody is only contracted for the first half of the tour.... any word yet on who may be doing the second half?

Putting a request in now for Zoe Birkett. Please and thank you. If this happens I’m booking immediately! Am I right in thinking she’s currently (or currantly!) in the Bake Off musical which only runs for a couple of months?
