Hmmm that’s frustrating, I’ve booked for August 24th but my partner won’t be keen on going if it’s an understudy. Shame they hadn’t announced holidays when I booked tickets, and I thought we’d be safe being near the end of the run.
I know your pain. Booked front row for Frozen in August, expecting to see Samantha again, but she will be out the day I booked. So will probably end up watching the show twice in the same London visit, since I wouldn’t be able to trade my front row seat for a decent one at the dates available. Hopefully there will be a nice magic monday ticket for me, but will have to miss something else to be able to watch Frozen twice
Broke it to my partner and we’re still planning to see it. Dujonna Gift was a revelation on our last visit; so we’re just going to enjoy it again. But if Caissie Levy is out of Next to Normal in the evening my life will be hell 😂

They will likely exchange your tix…I have always found that most box office personnel will try to help if they can.
Saw this at Wednesday matinee. The two leads were not as advertised but both really impressive. Enjoyed the production, particularly the first Act. Act 2 didn't seem to have anywhere to go and was much less engaging.Theatre was full.

If you were there today 17th July only Dougal was played by an understudy. It was actually Joe Kelly’s debut in the role. There hasn’t ever been both understudies on together so at least one of the ‘advertised cast’ would have been there
I'm a bit surprised to hear they are extending till Jan...can they really keep demand until then? It already feels like demand has been slowling a little bit sadly.
Was an extension ever announced and then cancelled or never announced in the first place?

Thanks for info. Both performers gave nuanced and engaging performances.

I really enjoyed this on Friday night. It's not the strongest musical song-wise (I couldn't hum any of them now), but the songs fit and support the narrative really well. I loved the chemistry the two leads had, as well as the complexity of the characters that was so gradually revealed. Just a really, really enjoyable night out at the theatre.
All of the best songs were included on the original EP, but it's still a great listen and lovely to hear the full thing. Their chemistry and characterisation really is brilliant.
Absolutely charming and with highly successful story songs, Sam Tutty stands out with charm, nuance and presence. I believe we saw an alternate for Robin. Vocal and stage command were lacking, especially highlighted by direct comparison to Sam. But overall, it's really quaint and makes you leave feeling really warm and fuzzy inside. Absolutely love that a new British musical is in the West End. And the theatre has the best air conditioning too! I wish I had brought a light jumper, was quite cold inside the theatre despite the boiling summer heat outside.
I’m so glad I got to experience this last night. I had seen some clips and heard some of the songs but I really didn’t expect this to be one of the absolute highlights of this London trip, along with Next to Normal.
Sam Tutty and Dujonna Gift were both so genuine and had amazing chemistry. Their vocals were very good too, both nuanced and powerful. It was simply impossible not to smile while watching this.
Thoroughly enjoyed this show tonight. Utterly charming and a great way to spend the evening. Shame about the silly woman two seats along who answered her phone midway through the second half, then spent five minutes tapping a message despite several audience members asking her to put it away.

I would have given her an absolute roasting. I'm so done with this sort of sheer rudeness and inconsiderate conduct.
And the writers have penned a new show, Catastrophe Bay, being performed by the National Youth Music Theatre next week at Southwark Elephant. Should be interesting.

Finally saw this for the first time last night.
I wasn't initially sure what to make of it. While I laughed at some of the jokes, I also found Dougal a bit much in the first half (there were times where I wished he would stop talking). However I did end up enjoying it in the end, helped by what I thought was a stronger second half, with Dougal being less irritating and the show delivering a wonderful message.
In terms of the acting, while both performances were good, I thought the actress who was on as Robin last night was wonderfully expressive and just so entertaining to watch. I hope I get to see her in something else before long.
Music wise, the songs were quite a lot louder than I'd expected from a two person performance, which was a pleasant suprise, even if they weren't the most memorable.
And it was suprisingly easy to get a Rush ticket, (Row J of the Stalls, which is a great vantage point as long as you don't have too many tall people sat in front of you) especially so close to the end of the run.
