I saw it this afternoon, hundreds of school kids in the audience who were very enthusiastic and help to contribute to a great atmosphere. I laughed, I cried and just loved it. Simon Lipkin is off the scale, so very funny and Daniel Boys played a very touching role as the sad, unlucky in love school teacher. A perfect Christmas show.

First night in Manchester last night. What a totally fabulous show! The kids were brilliant, Simon was great as mr Poppy. Bright, bold and a whole lot of fun. Still smiling this morning.

I was really happy to hear about it coming to Coventry next year. The movie has such a strong focus on Cov so it's nice to see it coming here. I thought about going to see this in London but my December is pretty packed anyway. I don't normally trumpet my own blog on here but I interviewed Simon Lipkin and wrote a feature about the show if anyone fancies reading it. Like talkstageytome I also have no room in my schedule for this when it comes to London unfortunately. So I've booked for Coventry too, nice touch that it is during half term so it means I can make a visit midweek. The downside to that is, hoards of children.

If it's anything like last week the children won't be a problem. I was a bit worried when I walked in and saw so many kids, but the show is so fabulous it kept them enthralled right to the end. |

I've noticed now on the Milton Keynes theatre website that they are hosting one of their usual "[Insert name of show here] Afternoon Teas" for Nativity the Musical, mid-November. It's a shame though as I've only recently booked for Coventry.
- MK is my local theatre, so I would have definitely booked there first.
- I'm an ATG card member, so discounts may have been missed.
- Mid-November is slightly more festive than October half-term.
On the other hand though:
- Coventry is where the film was made, so there's sure to be a good atmosphere.
- I've never been before so it's another one to tick off the list.
Pros and cons then. But yeah, in short: it's coming to Milton Keynes, I assume.

There was a great atmosphere when it opened in Birmingham, so I imagine it will be better in Coventry. And the Belgrade is a great intimate theatre (whilst this is a big-ish musical, it should be able to fit in without down-scaling so much) so I'm sure it will be a great place to see it! |

Seems bold as none of the performances in the 5 day run have sold out (even though they say they have in the article, Saturday Matinee is single seats only though so close enough for a family show I guess). |

Just got stalls seat tonight for £29 (incl fee) from Today Tix which is £30 discount.
More than happy with that for the chance to see Mr Boys and Mr Lipkin together on the stage.

I absolutely loved this. The Hammersmith Odeon is a monster of a place but there was a great atmosphere, hundreds of kids who were really well behaved and dads being forced to wear their Christmas sweaters looking very uncomfortable. The kids seemed to know all the songs from the Nativity section at the end and were singing along.
I don't know why but I wasn't expecting such high production values. Staging and lighting were brilliant and it felt like a west end show rather than touring production.
The kids in the show were excellent and seemed to be having a lot of fun.
Louis Walsh had a cameo role as the Hollywood producer. He was rubbish but the audience absolutely loved him and he got a huge ovation.
Adult cast excellent as well but the stars of the show were Daniel Boys and Simon Lipkin. Daniel was perfect as the teacher and Simon was hilarious as Mr Poppy. He is so made for comedy. Lots of very funny jokes some aimed at the kids and some aimed at the adults. Plus the cutest dog who got lots of ahhhs.
Absolutely brilliant evening.

I saw this last night and loved it. My first time at the venue and it seems too big but my view from right near the back was great, a bit annoyed with the box office insisting on seeing ID when the confirmation said that I only needed the confirmation (I'm going to be ready for Hamilton next week!).
The show had very high standards for a tour and deserves more than the 5 day run it got (though I would chose a more traditional central theatre than the return engagement here). I loved Simon Lipkin (my main reason for booking) and Daniel Boys as well as the kids. The other adults didn't have too much to do really, I really didn't see the need for the stunt casting of the Hollywood Producer, Did his name really sell enough extra tickets to cover his fee?
The audience around me all loved it, some even saying it was the best thing they have ever seen so it has definitely worked well. I would see it again but would want to sit a lot closer (though am not sure I would want to pay the price those seats command)

Just got out from seeing this and I enjoyed it, it was very fun and just a nice show getting me even more chrsitamssy. Really liked Simon Lipkin and Daniel Boys and the whole cast were great with great energy, except maybe Louis Walsh who was very cringey. Overall just very fun and can't really add anything else to what other people have said. One thing that did annoy me a bid is that they ran out of programmed and they said they were on the website but I can't find them, can anyone help?
