This afternoon’s performance was cancelled too (read on a Facebook post). Indeed it was and I was there. The musicians took their positions around 14.12 and there were just a few spots of rain. At about 14.18 they announced the start would be delayed and the mops came out, the rain continued and at 14.25 we were asked to leave the auditorium. At that very moment it turned from light rain to torrential, I was in stalls row B, umbrella-less, and by the time I reached the exit and shelter I was wet through - for the second time in 24 hours as I was also soaked leaving the Albert Hall Wednesday evening after their Best Of Broadway concert. Cancelled around 14.45 as they said Met Office had advised rain was expected to continue until 5pm. Not sure if it did as I went straight to Guildford for my evening show there. Exchanged for tonight albeit not in such a good seat and won't get home until after midnight but didn't want to miss the show. Then off to York by train leaving before 6am to see Beautiful there. All good fun -sorta ! Phew, what a schedule (she says with jealousy)! I'll be there tonight as well, all fingers crossed the weather holds as it really is last chance. Really looking forward to it!

Funnily enough, I was there yesterday evening, booked mainly on the strength of the weather forecast. Not much to add regarding the show itself, apart from the person who wolf-whistled several times during I Am What I Am should be banned from theatres for life.
Of more fun was trying to get into the theatre and being told my (rush) ticket had already scanned. After a few minutes with the box office checking my identity, they did agree that I had a valid ticket and let me in.
It turned out my seat was in a pool of water, so I suspect that was the real problem, and I was moved to the side, a few rows back. A good view anyway and I stayed relatively dry.
There were a few spots of rain, but nothing major, although I was rather surprised the parts of the show in the audience (with the wet grass and floor) still happened. They had a show stop just before the end of Act 1 to dry the stage, which may well have been due to wet shoes. The rest of this was smooth considering.
Anyway, the end result of this is I booked again for tonight, which looks to be a much more pleasant evening, possibly in the front row if it's not too wet.

What a glorious glorious evening. Standing ovation after I am what I am.
Wonderful. Definitely one of the best productions I’ve seen at the Open Air - up there with Into the Woods.

I saw the show on Friday. I'm still trying to process it. I've always liked it having seen both the Menier production at The Playhouse and the Kenwright tour. This was altogether a different league. I think it's probably the last of the great traditional musical comedies and I never thought I'd see it done to such perfection. It was both hilarious and deeply moving. Absolutely everyone was perfect - you'd think Peter Forbes has been in it for months. Carl Mulvaney was magnificent and I Am What I Am left most of the audience both on their feet and in floods of tears. I loved the mixture of grit and glamour in Colin Richmond's decaying set and I loved the choreography and the costume design. The regional accents gave it a real authenticity, a rough edge and real heart.

Apologies - I meant Carl Mullaney.

Currently watching The Roles We’ll Never Play at the Clapham Grand - Carl Mullaney is hosting and has hinted that La Cage is transferring to another theatre.

If any recent production deserves to have a further life, it’s this one.

Still no word on whether this is returning as rumoured?

Carl Mullaney is going to be in Sister Act at the Dominion - maybe squashes this rumour?

It was a nice evening out, but not enough to warrant a transfer, surely? Not starry enough either.

It created a lot of buzz at the time, but people have short memories and everyone has moved on to a new season I guess.

Talks of a transfer are still ongoing, but the longer it goes on, the more cast won’t be able to return due to other jobs. Unfortunately, they can’t sit around waiting for a call that might never come.
