I never understand why people want people to lose their job over something trivial. The booking system buckling just means the RC needs to invest in the booking system either by paying more or going to a different booking system. Don't know where in my message I said I WANT people to lose their job but booking systems buckling is the very last thing you ever want to happen. I'm just stating a fact; I bet they're probably looking for different booking system infrastructure services at this point because this is just shoddy They won't be - they use Spektrix and it's wildly used by lots of big venues. The issue is not with the ticket system - the issue is the websites server capacity for the number of people that the Royal Court website can handle at a time. In recent memory the RC has not had all that much to set the box office alight until David Byrne took over, so they've not had on sales that would cause their website to fall over. It's an exciting season so the website has had a mare, and they should probably look at their supplier/the size of server they have for situations like this, but a staff member will not be losing their job over today.

While I agree, I would also note that RC know exactly how many members they have and so they know the number of people that caused the system to fall over last week. A week later, the same thing. You'd hope that they might have spent the week working on this (even comms around it!) knowing that general booking was always going to be higher than membership numbers.

I think it'd take more than a week to upgrade the server so it might be taken into account for the next booking period but it's not something you can fix quickly.

If we're still having this problem next time they do an on sale, I'm with you 100% that the website should be able to handle it. Do agree currently though that there should have been some better comms around it prepped.

Well that was ridiculously difficult. An hour and a half later, got my 2 tickets for Psychosis. I suppose it’s a good problem for them to have, good programming generates lots of demand. But they’ll need to seriously invest in their systems How did you manage it?! Honestly no clue. Kept trying, on my phone, on google chrome

Am I wrong or are the tickets actually cheaper via TodayTix? That was the case for the last season, I got Giant for £2 less per ticket by buying at TodayTix...

Am I wrong or are the tickets actually cheaper via TodayTix? Cheapest tickets via RC are £15 for most of these plays (4.48 Psychosis excluded), with those same ones being priced at £18 on TodayTix. TodayTix are currently running a promotion on some of the higher priced tickets, however.

How does the general admission seating work for the Jerwood Upstairs? Do people tend to go early to queue? In a 90 person theatre, noone is going to be far from the stage, so there is not usually much heat about queuing. It's obvious where to queue: you climb the stairs towards the theatre and you queue at the point you are barred by a chain lol.
The configuration varies, so an inept director might create a seating plan and staging that includes side seats with poor views of that staging. But usually every seat has a good view.
In my experience, the first person in the queue usually arrives 20 minutes early for the average production, and most people don't bother queuing at all until called from the bar.
However, if you are referring to "4.48 Psychosis," which is a special event, involving creatives from the original legendary production, I'd expect people to be MUCH keener to queue.

I'm one of the people always queuing 🤣 though you are absolutely right that there isn't much point as it's so tiny, every seat has a good view.
