So, given that everyone was still waiting to go in at 2:40pm, I joined the very back of the queue, so as to go in last, and noted as I walked in that Row R of the Stalls was almost completely empty, so I just went in there instead. Really glad you got to do this and thanks for the write-up. I think you have found really good way to describe this production. It almost makes me want to revisit it from a seat where I can have a better chance of following along. |

I really liked this - it is experimental theatre not a traditional play with a well defined plot (but I knew this when I booked) - the acting from Huppert is amazing and the stage and design stunning. It is difficult to follow the subtitles because she speaks very fast but as a lot of what she says is repeated multiple times, you can look at her and read next time, or read once and the look. She had a very long standing ovation today and well deserved imo.

i enjoyed this a lot. Huppert is absolutely mesmerising and it was great to be in the front row to appreciate every gesture. The standing ovation was quite long and she absolutely deserved it. Loved the staging and lighting design. I would happily see it again.

I really like it too. I was fully captivated and delighted I had the chance to see it. I can understand French quite well so that helped but in general, I think that as other said the repetitions allowed one to look at Huppert and not read all the time.

I absolutely loved this and was captivated throughout. The music, lighting and sheer star power of Huppert - it was hard to take my eyes away to look at the surtitles so the repetition was helpful.

I don't know if it was hormones or Huppert's talent but int he first half I had tears. I also found the mid part set design with the screen and the smoke incredible to look at. The visuals for me were amazing. |

I don't feel strongly either way. It had some interesting things but I was bored at times with so much repetition.
I won't comment much on the surtitles' screens but that was a huge mistake by the Barbican. You need to make your audience be able to read the information.
I particularly dislike Ludovico Eiunadi's music so that was a minus.
Huppert was great but I would like to see her in a role where she can express a wider range of emotions. I think at some point the character said she spoke falcon? Well, more of a parrot in this case.
I found disrespectful that the other actress did not have the chance to be seen at curtain call. She could have made a brief appearance and then let IH take all the glory, as she was clearly enjoying it, and milking it.
* I have just learnt the difference between surtitle and subtitle. Corrected.
