I'm glad there is Susan Haskins because they need someone to counterbalance him but saying that, he is a good interviewer and i thought he came across well when he did an interview with Ken Davenport on The Producer's Perspective. |

Bookdepository .com- free shipping worldwide and their prices are usually fine, depending on how rare thd book is.
I get most of my books from them, theyre usually cheaper than my bookstore.
(And they're owned by amazon so they're legit too)

The Broadway casting has somewhat been consistent casting a Broadway's funny boys who have a very bright cross-industry career going on for them. Brian D'Arcy James aside (who was apparently also very funny), La Groff and Andrew Rennells have great things going on for them in TV and film, and Rory is a Tony Award Winner who got great notices in Mormon.
The role is even funnier to watch than the already funny songs. They really need someone with a great sense of humor for this.

Brian D'arcy James is a very established actor himself, veteran of 13 Broadway shows, 3 time Tony nominee, plenty TV and film credits (the latest in Oscar winning Spotlight). He's not a superstar by any means, but he's not an unknown in New York either. This isn't meant to attack at all- he's generally (sadly) very underrated by many :/ |

Lipkin is a bit too hunky for King George I think. I also think his hot dark looks won't make him such a good fit for this blue blood role. Then again Brian D'Arcy James has jet black hair and thick eyebrows for days, so what do I know?
Gavin Creel would be fun.

If I was casting director, I would go for Stephen Ashfield as King George, I know he'd like to do it. I believe (unintentional pun!!) he's going over to Broadway to do Mormon, though (so I was told), so it might not work. Maybe he might get to do it on Broadway!

I think Ashfield would be good as well, but I think they might want to open the show with someone who is "kind of" well known, someone on the same league as the guys who have played Broadway/Off-Broadway. I don't know. Just a hunch.

Completely unknown to the majority of the public Stephen Ashfield kinda fits this bill in the UK. Unknown to the majority but familiar with a theatre going audience. Alex Gaumond could be good |

Given its exuberant prices and it's "cool" factor, Hamilton is consumed by people who watch paid-for TV like as HBO, Netflix, Showtime etc. Jonathan Groff is relatively well known amongst yuppies from Looking, and Andrew Rennells is CERTAINLY known to that crowd having appeared in Girls. Both of them have been on The Late Show with Seth Myers, Jimmy Fallon, Ellen and Stephen Colbert. |

Been reading the forum on Broadwayworld.com and just thought I'd share what people have been saying about the new cast. Please remember this are just what people have said, don't know if any are true.
As already said on here, Javier Munoz will be taking over as Hamilton from Lin-Manuel Miranda (which has been confirmed).
A poster on BroadwayWorld said they had talked to an usher at the theatre who said that Sydney James Harcourt, the current understudy for Burr, will become Burr full-time.
A girl on Instagram posted that she was talking to Jimmy at stage door (the guy who kindly gave me a backstage tour a month ago) and she was told by him that Lexi Lawson (not currently in the cast) would become Eliza.
Apparently Christopher Jackson may leave in a few weeks.
Another poster on BroadwayWorld said that Miguel Cervantes (not currently in the cast) would be taking over as Hamilton alternate.
Several ensemble members are leaving.
Really surprised no official announcements have been made, I think it's quite rare for a show to just change most of it's cast with extremely short notice.

It's short notice to us, but probably not them. What is extremely rare is for a Broadway hit to not announce its first set of replacements this late.

The fact that so many have left so quickly, right around contract renegotiations, is hard to interpret as mere coincidence. And yet, not everyone has left: Daveed Diggs, for example, hasn't given any indication, even though he came out with an album in the interim! The hopeful possibilities are that 1) those leaving are in talks to join the London/touring casts, where I can see being a member of the OBC being of particular value, and/or 2) the profit sharing deal is freeing up the OBC to pursue other projects without having to stay on and risk getting type-cast (some of the cast has been attached to Hamilton since its workshop days). The negative read is that the producers are stiffing the OBC in renegotiations. Either way, it just feels like there's more to the story here... |
