I wonder if they will remove the tagline 'an american musical' over here so as not to come across as overly american which does seem to put some people off things

Ouch, £85 is a steep top-price. I was hoping they would price a lot lower initially, like Book of Mormon did, and that we could all sneak in early before dynamic pricing kicked in.

Presumably this £30 million refurb will put an end to row b stalls at the VP being restricted view and tickets being £19.50 like the good old days of Billy!

£85 is a steep non-premium top price now, but there's every possibility it could be the industry standard by October 2017. Anyway, I've never minded the high prices of West End theatre too much, because there are low prices too (which conversely makes it cheaper to wait for some fringe productions to transfer to the West End, with its range of prices, than to pay the flat rate that everyone without exception has to pay in the fringe venue, which can be on the upper end of acceptable personal limits if not just flat out too expensive).
Besides, Baz could be wrong, or misinformed, or we might be able to take advantage of our old friend dynamic pricing by booking early before they realise the prices can go up, or whathaveyou. There'll be perfectly respectable seats for less than £85, and if Mackintosh isrefurbing the theatre all together, for the amount he's paying, you'd hope visibility will be fabulous no matter where in the theatre you're sitting, fingers crossed!

I could see them keeping it. America is still seen as being cooler and edgier than the UK. |

Although I do draw the line at some of their truly heinous spelling choices. "Color" and "honor" indeed. George III should have been happy to see the back of that particular crime to be honest. |

I know the days of show tunes becoming chart hits is long over, but I'm surprised nothing from Hamilton has been covered. I can imagine a song like Helpless being popular outside of the show. Especially with all the current Hamilton fever* in the U.S.
(*My favourite bit of Hamilton fever being the zoo that named its baby camel "Alexander Camelton")

Well there you go, someone did Not the song I'd have expected to be covered though. Seems almost as inappropriate as "I Dreamed a Dream" being used to advertise Freeview. It's tough to produce a radio single from a musical where virtually every song is plot-specific. "Story of Tonight" is one of the few that doesn't name a particular character or plot point. That said, there are some lovely covers by professionals gradually dripping out. This one from Javier Colon -- former winner of The Voice US -- is a standout: |

I am completely happy to see Hamilton and Eliza replacements. Lin is fab, but I find him a teeny bit overpowering. And Eliza/Philippa is probably my least favorite, most vanilla and boring of the entire lot. I am happy come July if Leslie, Rene and Daveed are still in the cast.
