It'd be great if he was back in the show, but it's very unlikely.

Just listened to the first instalment (and really enjoyed) Giles Terera reading from 'Hamilton and Me' on Radio 4. It's on all week at 9.45 am and iPlayer.
It's a nicely packaged presentation with Giles reading from his journal interspersed with music from the show.

Was anybody else at the re-opening last night? It was insanely good and very emotional. My first time seeing Karl Queensborough who was excellent as Alexander and had big boots to fill, imo. Was good to see Waylon Jacobs take on a permanent principal role, he shone as Thomas Jefferson.
The whole case smashed it though, it definitely felt like a moment.

I was there, too! Star of the night for me was Ava Brennan. Best Angelica I've ever seen - what a voice!!!

I love Sharon Rose and her voice, she emotes beautifully and she definitely brought me to tears, but I wasn't keen on the random vocal runs during Schuyler Sisters.

I just happened to see Sharon Rose the first time she performed it and she was amazing, no way would you think it was her first performance in the role

I was there Friday night in the Upper Circle slips. Surrounded by interesting and chatty people. Still my favourite place to sit for value for money.
The show is in great shape, but I have a huge frustration with the venue. There are no cast boards anywhere on the upper level and there's no way to access the cast boards on the other levels.
The show started nearly 15 minutes late, so it was obvious something had gone wrong, but it wasn't until the next day that I was able to work out what had happened.
Aaron Lee Lambert was on as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison. He covers a lot of roles and I think I prefer him as George Washington, but he did a good job here to step in.
The big news was Dujonna Gift going on as Angelica Schuyler for the first time, apparently with only 20 minutes notice. She was fantastic and I had no idea it was her debut.
Apart from that. the usual highlight of Trevor Dion Nicholas as George Washington, showing off his fantastic voice. Waylon Jacobs has really come into his known as Lafayette/Jefferson and isn't too over the top. And it's always good to see Matthew Caputo's happy face on the stage.
A bit surprised this wasn't sold out, but I guess that's how theatre is right now especially as this show has always sold so strongly to US tourists. Don't think it's going to go the Rush tickets route, but it's the perfect time to go at short notice if this is one of the shows you've always wanted to see.

Interesting you say it wasn't sold out because when I checked for tickets earlier in the day there were maybe 4 or 5 remaining all at top price. Might be tourists who have bought them long in advance and not been able to make the show?

There may well be people who cancelled due to Covid. But more than the seating plan showed. It's harder to tell than it used to be now that some seats are sold through different batches held by agencies etc. Standing tickets are really easy to get right now as well and you don't have to queue at the venue. They appear on the DM site on the day.

They had added a cast screen In the bar area on the way to upper circle, I remember as it was landscape rather than portrait like the one near the box office. Shame if that is gone.

I wonder if Giles indicates in his book how many performances he missed (short answer: LOADS) -- I know more people during his run as Aaron Burr who didn't see him it than did .... the wonderful Jam Westman, by contrast, was very reliable.

I saw Giles 5 out of the 6 times I saw Hamilton that first year, so clearly your friends were just unlucky. Every performer misses shows, there is no need for a post as bitter as yours so long after the time in question.

Giles were really quite special as Burr.

Not sure which bar you mean, but you go in a different entrance now to the Upper Circle (up the side stairs). There was a screen in the bar by the Upper Circle but it was permanently set to show the merchandise for sale.

Not sure how to describe it but it was definitely used in Jan ‘20 as I have a picture: share.icloud.com/photos/08ckDm1wnjsmd5o5QajnM_4kA#Great_BritainA big bugbear of mine is not being able to see the cast board if you are in the upper sections of a theatre so a shame if that is now the case!

Thanks, I think that's the screen that was displaying merchandise, but it's hard to tell. There was another big fan of show next to me (on her 21st visit) and she'd hunted around for a cast board as well and couldn't find out. Hopefully it was just that they didn't display it due to the late cast changes. But if anyone attends in the Upper Circle soon, do please let us know what you find.

Just on way back from tonight’s show where the atmosphere was electric. The current cast is superb. Ava Brennan is the best Angelica London has had, in my opinion, and Trevor Dion Nicholas brought to house down after One Last Time. Amazing.

Did you take a photo of the cast board or know who the understudies were?

Not remotely bitter, just factual. The producers of the show were as agog at his attendance record as anyone. No one disputes the quality of the performance, which is a different matter altogether.

I haven’t asked the theatre/delfont site yet but thought there might be advice here. Has anyone exchanged tickets to another date for Hamilton? Not sure on the policy or how accommodating they are?
