Either way, at every major awards ceremony in New York, it recieved a nomination for Best Set Design in a Play, which is totally deserved and amazing!

The new(ish) London cast are starting tonight.
Meanwhile on Broadway they have a bit of a diva problem ;-)

Well, sets are like that, Dawnstar, it happens. It's when they walk out at the interval the problems really start, I think. I don't know, I feel that if TPTGW's set left in the interval Act 2 might actually go more smoothly!

What a talented bunch of young actors. Warms the cockles, it does.

I saw the new (London) cast tonight & thought they were in good shape. Nothing Went Wrong that shouldn't have! It was good to see 3 of the last cast's understudies promoted into roles full time (Lindsey Scott, Katy Daghorn & George Haynes) & also nice to see Leonard Cook back in the cast & Fred Gray moving across to play what is the 5th character I've seen him as across the 2 Goes Wrong shows.
There have been a few small changes, apparently things done for Broadway that have then been done over here, and I particularly liked the reintroduction of some interval business that I last saw in September 2014 & even greater chaos when the curtain rises in Act 2.

Saw it again tonight.
It should be a one act play. It drags so much as some of it's so repetitive.
One member of the cast is not up to it.
I'm glad that there is an appetite for this kind of comedy, I hope a better show comes along to replace this one.

Forgot to say, I didn't like the cross promotion at the end, again.
Also, the 'trick' was distinctly unslick.

That's very interesting that it started out as a one Act play - wish I could have seen it in that form. I was probably overly harsh with my posts last night as I'd been sick and couldn't sleep with the heat.
I think I shouldn't say which actor I didn't like as this is a public forum but what I will say is that it was the same role I was disappointed with last time played by someone different so it might be the script/direction.
On the whole I think the cast I saw last night were better than the first cast I saw. I'm sure they're all talented actors but they'd been doing it for longer and were perhaps going through the motions a bit more.

It was a 1-acter the first time I saw it, at Trafalgar Studios. Most of what is now Act 1 was in the original and most of what is now Act 2 was added, apart from the denoument which is from the original. Yes, I guess if you were disappointed in the same role with 2 different actors then it could be the role rather than them. Personally my least-favourite actor in the current cast is in a different role to my least-favourite in the previous cast so I know it's not the role in my case!

When a production first goes on sale they only sell seats as far back as row J or thereabouts. If the production sells well then they open up the rear seating. The seat plan used to show the different price ranges in different colours, now they all show as green and you have to click on each one to see how much it is, which is really annoying and enables them to alter the price of the seat without it being obvious. I'm going to this tonight and only paid £21 for a seat near the end of row E and I think that pricing seats right at the back of the theatre at £45 and £50 is really not on but if people are prepared to pay that then they will continue to price them so. I suppose this offsets the loss they must make on some other productions.

Worse than the hippodrome you could always count on the rep for fair priced tickets ..... such a shame but yep your probably right

An Italian production is opening in Milan next May, I think it's the first time that the play is translated.

Have you seen Beth Lilly as understudy Annie in the London production yet, Dawnstar? She was very funny as Phyllis in The Railway Children so I can imagine she would be great in this.

No, I've only seen the current cast once & that was just after they started with the full cast on. It's harder to get last-minute cheap tickets to see TPTGW understudies than it is for TCAABR understudies, I think at least partly because the Criterion has far more cheap restricted view seats than the Duchess.

Great to see the 2018 tour was announced today as well as another extension in the West End! And one of those tour dates is Chichester Festival Theatre, which is surprising to hear as it is a thrust stage.

If you really don't like farce, then give it a miss but if you are a regular theatre goer and like all sorts you will probably enjoy it.

Not really, as when it started, they played the Trafalgar 2, which has that kind of layout. Was it the full set though? I thought it was just the first half back then.

Is this any good? Looks to be good fun but I really can't tell. It's a very funny show and also very tightly written, I think the script is genuinely intelligent. Plus there's some quite brilliant direction and staging too. Everyone I know who's seen it has raved about it, myself included. It also helps that I'm an amdrammer; I've seen pretty much everything that happens in the show happen in an amdram show (although obviously not as extreme), which added to the authenticity of it for me.

Was it the full set though No, but the point is that it is flexible enough not to have to worry. It worked at the Albert Hall for the RVP, too, of course. The interesting bit will be how they manage with the upper floor & the lift, as that section hadn't been invented for Trafalgar Studios & wasn't used for the RVP performance. If only Chichester was a bit closer I'd be tempted to go & see for myself!
