I think he only had a small role in World War Z, so it’s probably not him, but... I’d love to see Peter Capaldi have a crack at Scrooge. Roughly the right age and physical type.

Peter Capaldi as Scrooge would just about finish me off. I've loved him ever since Local Hero.

Oh well, I live to see the ghost of Christmas yet to come... it'll be an actor I'm not familiar with I guess... Matt W said it was a well-known actor though...

Hmm. Much like Rafe Spall, I’ve always found him a bit of a personality vacuum I’m afraid.
However, it might be a case of ‘needs must’ because there’s not much else to see and I do love the production itself.
Has anyone ever purchased two online ‘tickets’ from the OV before? My parents want to see it but they’re not around when it goes on sale, so I was hoping to buy one for me and one for them, then email them the access info on the day. But would that work, does anybody know?

I've never seen Andrew Lincoln on stage, can anyone vouch for him? Seems a shame from a purely wish-granting perspective not to go for some theatre megastar, given there must be plenty with availability...

It’s definitely Andrew Lincoln. It’s already been announced elsewhere. Indeed. First announced on an open post on ‘AndrewLincolnFans’ on Facebook on 14th September which said: Andy is going to do a play during Christmas this year in England. He will play Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol". More details soon! Glad to be able to confirm this news with the permission of Andy's family for all fans. All success for Andy in the theater! ❤ #AndrewLincoln

He was brilliant in a play at the Almeida, can't remember the name but it co-starred Toby Jones, who would have outclassed him had he not been top notch, and in fact they matched each other.

I saw that too - Parlour Song by Jez Butterworth.

This is great casting. Just a shame it’s not a normal year where he could have played it in front of a live audience at the Old Vic.

Same for me: I need to learn how to make mince pies..
I will be able to watch it with my family in Italy so there is a silver lining in the forced home-based view :-)

Going for a theatre megastar would be a mistake in my view given that it's being streamed, picking someone whose reputation has been made on-screen in a recent hit series seems sensible from a marketing perspective.
