But the $64,000 dollar question is will China release it? Was Wizard of Oz ever a thing in China? If not then their box office is going to be a lot smaller

Remember just because someone says they are going to do something doesn't always mean they will. I think the general populous are less aware of Wicked than they where of Les Mis. And Les Mis didn't make THAT much money. I'd imagine they will see what kind of budget it will need to do it successfully and then realise that it's too expensive for what universal will get back It wasn't just anyone saying it. It was the producers and the composer saying it

Yeah I forgot Mama Mia (and I shall try to forget it once again) Still four movies in a decade or more I rather enjoyed 'Mamma Mia' myself. It was an enjoyable bit of fluff, just like the show. It does what it says on the tin. And great to see a load of really good actors having the time of their lives.

Producers and composers break promises too, or are u still holding out for Sondheims 'sunset boulevard' and 'groundhog day'?

Yeah pointoine I can't say I appreaciate your tone, and while it is a big step forward to have a date announced, musical film productions have gotten alot further and got cancelled- it's not beyond belief.

I don't get bored easily, and I love a cheesy musical film- but by god I want those 2 hours back

Sorry? MY tone? What did I say wrong? We were just having a discussion. Someone said "you're kidding right?" because I said the release date was in 2019. Am I not allowed to say that this doesn't mean that it won't be made?

I was joking when I said "good". And I didn't mean to be rude, nor do I think I was. I was just defending my point of view.

I understand it was a joke though and apologize

I do understand that it might not have been very clear that my last comment towards that person was a joke.

Except that the point is that the viewer has the time of THEIR life. I never cracked a smile all the way through it. The highest emotion I reached was "embarrassed". What was Meryl thinking?

Shouldn't the producers get Andrew LLoyd Webber and Tim Rice to compose additional songs?

Then again I completely and utterly love the Nicole Kidman remake of 'The Stepford Wives' so I have a very low embarrassment threshold.

But I think it was reasonably succesful financially speaking. And at the end of the day that's what producers care about.

I really want a song for Boq, just because he is my fafourite character though he doesn't get much to dk, even in the show. If someone like Meryl is Morrible, she will no doubt get a number of her own too.

Oh god, Boq is so wet. That's why he doesn't have a song, what would it say? "I'm so pathetic I can't see my nose in front of my face".
EJECT!

'March of the Witch Hunters' could easily be rewritten as more of a song for Boq as it 'semi' is at the moment...

If someone like Meryl is Morrible, she will no doubt get a number of her own too. Yes, I too have a soft spot for the Boq character. As part of the storyline maybe they could expand upon the arrival of Galinda at Chiz and some sort of initial encounter with him, which is where her first falls in love with her. And what about Mdme, Morrible? We all know now that Elphaba isn't really wicked, but severely understood however lets face it, Mdme. Horrible isn't such a nice character. She's clearly in collusion with The Wizard. Maybe they've had a dalliance in the past? Maybe it's her who's truly wicked. There's lots to delve into there and definitely worth a song. There could also be a song about the panic and fear felt by the animals as they begin to loose their voice, something alluded to in Something Bad.
