I think that boils down to the best original song Oscar, where to be eligible I believe it has to be a brand new song written specifically for the movie(s.)

I have a question about the new songs? It its my understanding that all existing songs from the show are the film plus some new songs. However what I wonder is whether the new songs are indeed, just that- new songs? Or are they (or some of them) songs that were written for the show originally but cut? They are both new songs. There weren't that many songs cut from Wicked. Making Good became Wizard and I and Which Way To The Party became Dancing Through Life. |

I wonder if they'll decide it's good enough for a single film in post production. They wouldn’t be able to go back on it now. They could go back to one, but it would be a very long film. It would all depend on the budget, which is being spent at a very rapid pace. The two films will have to spend a fortune on advertising, even more on the second if the first half doesnt perform well. |

It changes a bit through the show doesn't it? Or do they just add more blusher/cosmetic make up later? I'm sure in my programme she looks quite different — much softer — later on. I finally dug out my programme and took some photos. She looks very different in the third picture, that was what I meant by softer.    |

I don't think this films going to make Christmas Day 2024, it's going to be an Avatar Christmas every two years until it starts to lose money, plus it will have to also compete with Sonic 3 if that also does not move.
I'm going to put my money on moving to early summer 2025 for part one and Christmas 2025 for part two.
Still think they have shot themselves in the foot making this two movies. |

If they drag it out until 2025, people really will have stopped caring by then. The whole thing is feeling a bad idea to me anyway but always happy to be proven wrong.

The audience going to see Avatar on its openeing day/weekend are unlikely to be the same audience that would be going to see Wicked. Also, December 25th is one of the biggest release dates in the US film calender, it's a big deal. Though the (sort of) tradition of a movie and a chinese meal on 25th was very odd on the times i've been there. |

I wonder, once both the films have long been released 'and the cheers and the ballyhoo' have died down if, in 15 years or so if this will get a cult following and they'll be interactive Halloween or midnight screening, like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Imagine it. Lots of Glinda's, Elphabah's, Fiyero, Nesserose's, Dr Dillamond's, Mdme Morroble's, Chistery's and Wizards running around.
