I don't think it's tough to fill, it's had plenty of big hit shows and rarely has a flop. I think it was just a poor choice or show for the UK. Well it’s tough to fill if the show has no appeal Mr. B - what show have you heard will fill the Price Edward before MJ?

It’s a shame that this is coming off early but I’ve heard they are being really efficient with refunds and rebooking which hopefully softens the blow. I hope every one who still wants to go can find room in their diaries.
I am busy on closing afternoon (still think any last performance other than a Saturday night is wrong anyway) so am going to the final Saturday evening. Sitting upper circle to get a fuller view than I did from front stalls for my first visit.

Jesus Christ Superstar touring production would slot nicely in there for one month (December)...

Not even one that is already out on the road with cast/crew/set moving every 7-10 days with a gap in the schedule in December?

Costs for the west end work differently to touring… plus marketing etc also requires a bigger budget.

I now know what is going into the Prince Edward. MrBarnaby has been very wrong for once, apparently it was secured weeks ago. Unless it’s now fallen through? Guess we don’t know til someone says what it is and others confirm it…

They ended up slotting in a stint at the Wyndham's Theatre over Christmas, which I didn't think was part of the original schedule

They did it with the Debbie Kurrup/Caprice/Rickett ‘Rent’ at The POW one Christmas many moons ago. I’m pretty sure it was only in for a month at the end of its tour…I’m not sure Adam Rickett was in it in town or maybe he was just off the night we went. Around the same sort of time you’d get a reworked version of ‘The Rat Pack’ (which I think was at the Vaudeville) called ‘Christmas Rat Pack’ entirely separate to the Rat Pack and in the Criterion, again for 4/5 weeks, hence my assumption that it was something that was do-able. However, I totally get that receiving houses are run on a different schedule to the W/E, and that they wouldn’t necessarily bother hiring for a 4 week run.

You may think that, you may very well think that - but I couldn’t possibly comment.

Really not sure what to make of this - I enjoyed parts of it, but it's not one of my favourite bio-musicals. The cast really go full out with the songs, both vocally and with their dancing - I particularly enjoyed Mitchell Zhangazha as Eddie, Cameron Bernard Jones as Melvin and Christopher Gopaul who was on as Dennis. Tosh Wanogho-Maud has a great voice, but his vocals were so completely over the top, including too many embellishments for my tastes (an issue I also had with his performance in Drifters Girl) and literally yelling some of the high notes. The lead character (played by Akmed Junior Khelemai) is not particularly likeable (well, none of the leads were really, but him less so than others) which is an issue when he's the narrator. My biggest issue, and it's one that also affects other jukebox shows is that too many songs are cut very short - I would have liked a few more to have been longer than a verse and chorus.

I would prefer Miles Richardson to step into his father's shoes on that one.
Not that it will happen!

I'll be gobsmacked if it's a play - even Dear England - as the Prince Edwards is a large theatre (1700+ seats) and in it's history it has never had a play staged there. Confirmed.
