Fabulous news.... depending on the venue and the director. Dominic Cooke at the National ideally, as far as I'm concerned.

Praying this is true!
Theatrefan also mentioned something about a Sweeney Todd revival with the clue "I'm sure someone will russell one up". Maybe we're getting Jenna Russell as Lovett?

For years I’ve dreamt of a large-scale revival of this in The Olivier!

I hope it's the full score and not the condensed version without Chrysanthemum Tea

Saw this at the Donmar back in 2003 and absolutely loved it. Jérôme Pradon was outstanding and was very unfortunate not to win the Olivier he was nominated for. Hope it happens!

Probably too old to get back now, but hard to imagine anyone being better.

This is exciting, so I hope it turns out to be true. I remember enjoying the Union Theatre production of this a few years ago now, which was my first introduction to the piece. I would love to see it done on a larger scale than that though.
I also wouldn't mind a SWEENEY TODD with Jenna Russell as Mrs Lovett. I like her (in the right roles), and think that it would be a good fit. Any ideas on who the Sweeney would be?

and let's not forget the staggering, astonishing production at the Wythenshawe Forum. None of us knew what had hit us. Such spectacle and such an unexpected venue.

Just as an FYI, I came across this on Twitter a couple of weeks ago "Pacific Overtures was filmed for release by Japanese public television; whist it never received a physical release in the Unites States, it is readily available on-line. www.youtube.comIt's a little grainy

I could see this working very well in the Olivier as others have mentioned already. The National have committed to doing at least one musical a year and after the success of follies, this would be a great follow up. The other place I could imagine this working in of course is Chichester after the cancellation of Assassins in 2020. Daniel Evans I’m sure would do wonders with this material

I believe it will be somewhere much smaller than some of the theatres being mentioned.

Wonderful news! And that artwork is truly breathtaking.
My only worry is if they use the tiny orchestrations that appear on the 2005 Broadway album; they seem to be the go-to nowadays. And please keep "Chrysanthemum Tea"... I can't believe that has to be said...

To be fair orchestrations are always tiny at the Menier. The real shame is that they remain tiny even during their West End and Broadway transfers!
