So does anyone know or have any insight into the Menier? When I was there for Maria Friedman all the artwork and signage had been stripped from the bar.
Is the Menier no more?

Latest update is it’s closed for refurbishment. Really hoping we get a winter musical from them this year.

Over the years I have certainly enjoyed a lot of productions at the Menier, including some that later went on to have a second life on larger stages in the West End. At least for a good chunk of time, it has made some bolder than average choices and we have been lucky to catch some theatrical magic in an intimate space.
However - and I'm not sure if it was done merely in an attempt to get more bums on seats - sitting in there had become a bit too much of a torture, so little was the space assigned to each ticket holder on those benches. And on a warm day in summer, the temperature in the auditorium could become really a bit too much to bear...
So I will be curious to see what happens with it, and hope that the refurbishment is about making it into a more comfortable space, both for casts and crews and for audiences, without giving up its charm and cozy vibe. Fingers crossed we will get an announcement about a winter season (and maybe a musical around the end of the year) to kick things off again!

Air conditioning would be a really, really good investment. It's incredibly hot in there.

They do have air con. It was put in several years ago but it can still get hot in summer.

It is very fair to separate the artistic choices and the facilities management they are certainly very different and oppose each other.

I'm pretty sure they don't have air con in the lobby, at least they didn't when I last went there. It's horribly hot before shows & in intervals there; I find that much worse than in the actual auditorium.

I’m sure I was told they have to leave that building and are frantically looking for another venue

That was why I said I find the lobby much worse than the auditorium. If they do do a refurbishment I'd hope they'd extend the air con to cover the entire floor.

I like the Menier. I have seen quite a lot down there. They do some amazing work that has gone to even more success internationally. They are also quite creative with their space.
My only gripe is having to walk through the restaurant in order to get to the theatre.
I have never eaten there (I believe it's very good) but I feel as though I am disturbing both the waiters and clientele.
I's be great if the theatre itself has its own separate entrance.
