I think that’s the time that the ship hit the iceberg. It is, exactly 106 years later, and the show will end about the same time as the ship disappeared from the surface as it took 2:40 to sink. Oh my goodness, what a special way to mark it.

Yes, as others have said it’s to mark the time of the sinking itself as it’s the anniversary. This, along with the expected atmosphere are the reasons I thought it would be a good idea to book that performance.

Tonight’s first preview has been cancelled after about 5 minutes into Act 2 due to safety issues (one of the walls up stage I believe).

From Niall's Facebook
Such a shame that our opening performance had to be stopped half-way through. We’d like to thank the wonderful audience for understanding the need for safety. Structural engineers will check the ceiling in the morning. No one was hurt, thank God. #SailOn ❤️

Small parts from the ceiling actually fell on stage in the beginning of Act 2.

Glad to see no-one was hurt, at the end of the day that's the most important thing. Feel the show & Mayflower have handled this well, putting safety first by cancelling the remainder of the show and then exchanging tickets or issuing gift vouchers to those who were in attendance. The show is going ahead tonight, looking forward to seeing it tomorrow evening, especially given the large amount of praise act 1 received yesterday

Sorry about starting another thread on this, lost the first one..tut tut. Have I ever mentioned that my great uncle died in the Titanic disaster? Froze to death on an ice floe.

I loved last night very special. They did a minute’s silence at the end which was bang on 220 (I know about time differences) but still moving. As you’ll see from my picture above they’ve put a big model of the ship on the outside of the Theatre which was a lovely touch. The cast were great (my favourites were back which I’m thrilled about). I think there was one line slip but it didn’t matter and I don’t think many people would’ve noticed. It may seem a bit odd to put spoilers for this show but I’m just going to discuss the staging of songs: Basically there’s more cast to fill the stage, so for example, the boiler room song has five people on stage compared to three at the Charing Cross Theatre. Also there was no hole in the stage which I remember he opened in that song. When it comes to the stage itself it is wider (of course) but it didn’t fill the stage at the Mayflower. They’d made their own arch within the main one (decorated to look like rivets on metal). I’m still pretty tired so I’ve probably forgotten loads. If I remember anything I’ll add it later.

Absolutely loved this last night, I'd never seen the show before nor had I heard the music but the whole thing was beautifully done. So glad I chose to ruin my body clock by going to that rather special performance. I'm not one to cry at shows normally but I was a mess during the last 10/15 minutes, as d'James mentioned the cast joined us in the stalls (so they to could look at the certain showing the names and pay their own respect to those who so sadly lost their lives that fatal night) as they held a minutes silence which was a beautiful touch.

Its brilliant to see such a great response to the show! in all the musicals I have worked on I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of this production and am honoured to tour this around the country! Especially with our next stop being Belfast!
Last nights performance was an absolute first within my career of an 23:40hrs performance but it was an incredibly important performance!
Looking forward to seeing further reviews throughout the tour!
Best, Andrew

Just booked tickets for this in Salford. Gutted that we left it too late for better seats and have ended up in the upper circle but I'm just glad we're getting to go. Apart from the story of the Titanic, I know absolutely nothing about the show or the music. Reading the comments on here makes me think we're in for a real treat. Looking forward to it very much.

On the soundtrack (!) which character is it who says the line ‘yes, but not at cards.’?
