Would love to see this while i am in London in July, but unfortunately i have booked for "Lady Day" already...well, bad timing on my side - hope it comes to London in the future again and i can see it, can't afford a second trip to London this year  |

So yeah, I saw this last night and absolutely loved it! It's a great ensemble piece, with great music and some compelling characters. I thought it really worked on the Charing Cross Theatre's tiny stage, and the set was used really ingeniously. Very slick for a first preview, with an outstanding cast! Niall Sheehy has an incredible voice, and really stood out in both of his roles, particularly as the stoker Barrett. Though really everyone was excellent. Some amazingly swift costume (and wig?) changes, which made my head spin a little. I imagine it's probably pretty manic backstage at some points!
All in all, I loved it! Shame about some of the audience members though (more on that in the bad behaviour thread).

I was in row F and luckily was not aware of audience problems.
I also loved it and will be going back.
Standing ovation. Don't see many of these at the Charing Cross theatre!

saw it tonight and absolutely adored it! what a glorious production!
my first time at charing cross theatre and at first look the stage looked terribly small but once the show starts its fine and is busted very very well! Its a very large seating area for such a small stage, but a really nice little theatre.
I missed the show when it was at the southwark and am so glad to have the chance to see it again, i love Sutherland's work, id love to see his Grand Hotel again!

I've not seen this production but have seen several others, and have to say it is a truly magnificent musical. I think the rag stands out as getting the tone wrong, but then they are supposed to be dancing on deck..it does seem very musical comedy. All the other pieces have great dignity and are extremely moving.

So, I went last night and it was really a special show and production. I loved it with all my heart and I don't think I've ever been more moved in a theatre.
The cast is really good, the male members are better singers imo, especially the older gentlemen. I really, really liked Matt Crowe as Bride, it was such a sweet performance.
The stage is considerably smaller than the one they performerd on in Toronto, so I think some of the (otherwise lovely) coreopgraphy should be re-imagined for this tiny space.
I can't wait to go again!

I really liked how compact the stage was (the band are behind it so they lost a lot of depth that way too). It gave a sense of claustrophobia and being trapped to some scenes, which are obviously very common themes in the show. And they did their best to expand the staging area as much as possible, by adding a forestage in front of the pros, bringing cast into the audience and even painting the two side balcony bits with the same white band as the set. |

As I understand it, the ragtime music number has a direct connection to the music played on board the ship, Ragtime was the most popular form of music of the period, and was played with other 'light music' as the ship was sinking. |

I moved as the stage was too high plus added to that 2 Russian women behind me that picked their moments to whisper to each other (may as well have been shouting) i felt it better to have moved. I saw more of the set from Row J. I'm going to make a return visit and sit just after the break in the rows. Hope this helps |

A bench in an alcove behind a wall, either side of the stage. Narrow, unpadded, 5 people squeeze onto it. The first person, the one by the entrance to it, gets unlimited legroom. Everybody else had better be under 5ft tall - though if they are, they won't see over the wall in front. The view is very sideways on and you will miss a lot of nearside stage action. Not in to see this for a few days yet, but "Tokyo Hotel" one bench saw nothing at all due to set design.
