Are there any chances to get dayseats at the box office? Any experiences? Thanks for responding (and for being patient with my English...)

Are there any chances to get dayseats at the box office? Any experiences? Thanks for responding (and for being patient with my English...) I turned up on a Saturday at around 12:45, went to the box office and managed to get a £30 ticket for Row D of the dress for the matinee. I checked the seating plan before I left and saw there was lots of seats available anyway. She offered me £25 seat for the grand or £30 for dress with a drink included...basically spent £25 on seat and a fiver on drink! Is it common for theatres to sell discounted unsold tickets on the day, even if they’re not dayseats?

I asked at the box office and they told me that they might do day seats if you go early in the morning (I suppose 10 a.m.), in certain cases, except for Fridays and Saturdays. I didn't try it thought because I found a great stalls seat for £25 on Student Beans.

If you can't get a dayseat from the Box Office, do you know about the TKTS booth in Leicester Square, coricolonzo?

Is it common for theatres to sell discounted unsold tickets on the day, even if they’re not dayseats? Unless the producer has said not to, then yes, at the last moment box offices want to take every penny they can get. Please remember, box office staff are some of the best sales people around; they aren't just there to hand over tickets, there's far more to it than that. Do you have any advice on this? In my experience every time I’ve tried I’ve been unsuccessful (or too embarrassed to try!)

I try and be polite and cheery and ask if there are any day seats still kicking around which signposts quite nicely that I'm looking for a "deal" specifically whilst avoiding asking for discounts, which I would find difficult to do. If you look up TKTS on your way to the box office and see they're discounting, you can use that to your advantage. I've also turned up before and said that I see TKTS are selling seats for X amount, I just wondered if you could do better? And they could!

Not more than that, really. As others often say on here, just being really polite at the last moment goes a long way too. It comes down to whether staff have the autonomy to do something or not. If they can, they will, is all. As someone here said, if you are shy, a simple "are there any day seats left for this evening" tells the box office you are looking for a good deal. I've tried, "is there anything left in the restricted view stalls, please" and "Is there anything left for about £30, please" too. I'm sure others here have good advice as well. The best I've had was at the Palladium in 2006 when the Sinatra tribute show thing was on. I'd got my parents tickets for their anniversary and at the last minute decided to join them. When I collected the tickets I asked if there were any seats nearby as I also wanted to see it. I didn't even know about day seats then and didn't ask for a discount. The man said he could get me the seat next to them and then printed it off and gave it to me with £0.00 printed on it and just said there we go! I was completely baffled but he just said don't worry and then served the next customer. Not sure I'll ever manage it again

@tallpaul: Thanks for the advice. I know the TKTS Booth - that'll be my "last chance" during my trip to London. In fact I hope there will be another offer I can book reduced tickets in advance. I'll see...

According to the Sun’s gossip columnist, who I find to be absolutely vile, Cheryl has been overlooked for the role of Roxie in favour of Caroline Flack. Surely she just turned it down?
Is it really worth getting Caroline in when it closes in January?

Doesn’t surprise me. I was surprised Flack hadn’t been suggested already if I’m honest.

Fair enough I suppose. That 'X Factor' performance was brutal and the much hyped comeback single hasn't done as well as expected. They probably though Flack was just a safer bet.

Any article (published yesterday) which contains the following paragraph should probably by taken with more than a pinch of salt:
"Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke is currently in the role of Roxie, supported by Blue member Duncan James as Billy Flynn. But producers had been looking to splash out on a marquee name following the success of Oscar winner Cuba Gooding JR, who took on the role of Billy for six weeks earlier this year"
Almost ran out of fingers counting the errors.

I mean it’s not THAT innacruate. Sure, Cuba played a little longer, and Burke and James finished a bit earlier (like a fortnight) but apart from that he’s accurate... 🤷🏻♂️(In no way defending him - I think he’s a terrible ‘journalist’ )
