‘Knee injury’. Yeah sure. They’ve realised she’s useless, or she’s realised she will embarrass herself. The whole thing has been ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Russell is off again... His last performance with the tour was this weekend just gone. There’s a week between Russell leaving and Lee joining.

Well that was....ok. Didn't love it, didn’t hate it. Same old production I last saw about 10 years ago. It seemed to go down very well with the full house in Manchester. A few good performances but sound was weak and some of the choreography wasn't very tight. Velma and Roxy were totally out of sync at one point in the Rag at the end, and some of the ensemble were just going through the motions. Time for a revamped version I think. For all the criticism, GC might at least have brought some life to the show.

Oh dear. I know it's a crap audio, but it doesn't sound like anyone is missing much. I know dozens of amateurs who could do better on five minutes' notice with no warm-up.

Surely they would have checked her vocal ability before offering her the role although there has been previous with this the late Sir Roger Moore in Aspects of Love. Gemma had been doing a one woman tour ironically last month I remembered and got through those dates okay. The knee injury could be legit don't forget she fell through that trap door at Radio One awards and took some big thuds when she did DOI so it could have flared up although Mama isn't a dancing part in any way as I recall.

The knee injury is such a cop-out, you could easily work around an immobile Mama Morton if you wanted to, she only has to come on and off the stage, there's loads of ways of doing that. She could've been carried in on a posh throne by the sexy dancing men.

Yes, it could have been made part of her character really easily.
If I was her I would have managed to do the role despite the challenges because it would be a really positive thing for her to see through.

God, it's like from a famine to a feast with the casting in this show! Brenda will absolutely smash it.

Brenda is a huge upgrade over Gemma so any musical theatre fans attending would be happy.

At least the people / person who booked to see Gemma Collins will now get the chance to see what someone with actual talent playing the role looks like.

I've seen her do this role before, I'm sure? Probably got it because she knows the part and doesn't need as much time to put into the show.
From what I remember she sings okay (I think I saw her with Jennifer Ellison and Amra Faye Wright in town, when the show was on its arse).
Her American accent and acting was shocking but the singing was decent.

Yes Brenda played it quite a few years ago. She's performing in a different league these days, she'll be incredible in this. I've met her as well, she's absolutely lovely.

Great casting and nice to see she is obviously feeling strong enough now to return to performing.

Brenda had a tragedy that no mother should have to endure and recently returned to Loose Women so hopefully she has a great time in the show. She is a top level vocalist and a decent actor so she can do this supporting role with her eyes closed.

She was the best thing in it when I saw her to be fair.

Genuinely one of the nicest people. When she was in WWRY on tour in Sunderland my college group were doing the show for our end of year show. We invited her and she came and watched us (on her afternoon off) and came backstage for photos. She’s wonderful.

Lovely! This is much better casting than Gemma Collins. She'll be great!

I have zero sympathy for the producers. The was no chance Gemma Collins would do it, ever. She has neither the talent nor the temperament for theatre.

I’m sure Brenda will be fantastic in this! Saw her last year in Hairspray and her I Know Where I’ve Been brought the house down.
