But most people will only support the theatre they like, when theatres finally reopen there aren't suddenly going to be people who hate musicals buying up tickets for musicals. They'll be buying tickets, as before, in relation to their tastes. I don't like rugby so it would be odd for me to support sport by buying tickets to rugby. Support doesn't just mean buy a ticket... It is as simple as being supportive of the fact a production is opening rather than posting unnecessary negative comments. Not difficult.

Support doesn't just mean buy a ticket... It is as simple as being supportive of the fact a production is opening rather than posting unnecessary negative comments. Not difficult. Support is, at the end of the day, ALL about tickets. yes you can cheer your support for the production all you want, but unless someone is paying for a ticket, then no one gets paid and then you have nothing to support. I do support theatre, and have been doing it for a long time, and paying full price for great seats. That allows these productions to happen, not people cheering on from home. And yes, i do only support theatre i like. I wonder how many people here are going to see mime acts, interpretive dance, kids shows, improv shows. They are all theatre. My comment wasn't unnecessarily negative, it was just different to yours. Where was all this 'support' for Thriller??

What would be good is within a sport you do like, because you do like theatre. So, I love tennis, in particular Roger Federer. I don't really like Andy Murray, but as everything is on it's knees, right now I would (if I could safely) buy tickets to see him in the hopes of supporting the sport and therefore it would mean I could hopefully see those I do love eventually. If you see what I mean.

Bought a ticket for this in the ATG pre sale today.
Heaven knows if it will happen but did feel fantastic to book for a new tour of a reliably good musical! First thing have booked since the intervention of Miss Rona.

Now I've got 'So Macho' in my head. Marvellous.
No name for Billy Flynn mentioned? I expect Duncan James will be packing his suitcases as we speak 😂

Imagine they'll drop Billy in a few months in the hope of boosting sales and reinforcing the show.

Divina will be a joy to watch in this. She could have been in the mix for Velma!

I saw Sinitta about 100 years ago at The Old Vic in HAIR (just checked, it was 1993 so not far off). She was rather good and they even released Aquarius as a single.
Around 5 years ago I met her at the “Shock Treatment” movie convention at the BFI. She was so friendly, chatting and posing for pictures with people while Pat Stephens (nee Quinn) was upstairs charging for the privilege.
Great casting with Divina, she’ll make an excellent Mary Sunshine. Pleased to see them getting a decent stage role.

Great to see Davina cast however I really long for this revival to be retired.
I want to see a new interpretation of this show but as it's such a cash cow I doubt a pro revival will be in my lifetime.

Surely Emily Goodenough can’t be a real name

Surely Emily Goodenough can’t be a real name Of course it's not! It's a stage name. I know this actress, her real name is Emily Belowaverage Edit, someone just DM'd me. I hoped it was clear I was making a joke but I just wanted to add I don't really know her, and I'm sure Emily is lovely and extremely talented. It has come to this.

She's got her own college off the Gray's Inn Road. Lovely building.

I saw her in the What A Feeling Tour back in the late 90's (and have the live CD). Her voice was surprisingly strong in a live band setting, as opposed to Stock Aitken Waterman production!

And after seeing the wonderful Leicester Curve production around 2014, I don't think I'd want to go back to this. It was a production that actually had COLOUR and SETS!

Same. It's TERRIBLY dated. And after seeing the wonderful Leicester Curve production around 2014, I don't think I'd want to go back to this. It was a production that actually had COLOUR and SETS! It would be lovely to see a production of the show as originally conceived. A 1920s tatty burlesque show with showgirls and "down at heel" comedians. After all the score was written initially as individual speciality acts. The only time I've seen this was the Sheffield Crucible production which transfered to the Cambridge Theatre in the late 70s and think modern audiences could handle that concept which possible wasn't appreciated at the time. I loved how they recreated parts of that original production in Fosse/Verdon.
The Walter Bobbie production is the opposite really, isn't it? Super slick, minimalist, clean lines, smart. VERY 90's!

Southampton this week, then it’s Bromley Inverness Dubai Birmingham Crawley
Then the cast changes and it’s over to ATG venues from February with R Watson.
