Imelda's face is a picture 😂 She's smiling and clapping but she also looks like she's about to be sick! Hmm that final "LOOOVE" note sounds like something you'd hear coming from my shower...

I find a lot (not all) of the American stars on Graham Norton to be a complete pain in the rear. It's usually either sit there and say nothing or hog the whole thing. Neither is entertaining. Give me guests like Vicky McClure or Keeley Hawes any day. I'm a big fan of Norton though. I don’t mind it when they hog the show, so long as they interract with the other guests and don’t just plug their film/show. The worst is when the entire couch is made up of the cast of one film, like last week with Mission Impossible. I couldn’t care less about how they did the stunts on set. Completely agree. Hate those weeks. I like the surprise of guests who don’t know each other well having good banter. I don’t expect it to just feel like one stop on a press tour.

Still no news on Velma and Roxie? I have one slot left for March that I'm saving for either Chicago (depending on cast) or Girl from North Country.

It’s likely I would think that we’ll get some MT stars at Roxie and Velma. I don’t see it being ‘big theatre names’ though (e.g Rachel Tucker, Louise Dearman etc). Probably someone slightly less we’ll profiled but who we still know.

Does this make Ruthie the first person to have played all three leads?

Does this make Ruthie the first person to have played all three leads? No Bebe Neuwirth has done it. She originated Velma in the 1996 revival, then played Roxie in the mid-2000s, and recently returned to play Mama on Broadway.

And also... JOSEFINA GABRIELLE as Velma? Oh sweet Gods! Amazing! Totally! I’m shocked that they’ve done so well - and that there was no word of this at all till tonight!! I was totally gonna swerve it but am definitely going now.

Josefina Gabrielle did several stints as Roxie in the early 00s - so another performer shifting roles.

Oh no... I knew they'd cast it properly now that I'm not able to go and see it *violent sobbing*

Yeah I was totally gonna dismiss this - but Ruthie and Josefina make this irresistible!

Josefina is exciting casting but would have liked a new Roxie.
And I hate to say it but will Ruthie even be able to sing it? It needs a belter and her voice has been shot to s**t the last times I’ve seen her on stage over the last few years. This casting makes me feel a bit sad as she was such a glorious talent years ago, but she hasn’t taken care of that voice and she should really be playing bigger roles now in her career than this.

Well I wasn't that far off saying let's get Ruthie back a few posts ago, except I meant as Velma or Roxie again.
I never liked Josefina (sorry). Who is Roxie now? I never heard of her.

Josefina will be sensational. Ruthie shot her voice doing MARGUERITE on the West End, alas: a sad tale.

Great news about Josefina. Looks like 2018 is going to be an expensive year.

Wow- this cast makes Chess look like community theatre! Was going to pass as I think the stage version is so dreary, but am definitely booking now!
Take note ENO- this is how you cast a musical with great actors in appropriate roles.

Great news! I'm in! Funny after seeing it on Broadway two summers ago I thought I was done with this revival and that I would never see this production again.... never say never, I guess

Mama isn't that hard of a sing and they stunt cast that role on Broadway all the time. I mean, Nene Leakes from The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Wendy Williams played that role. Ruthie may have shot her voice but she will still be fierce and better than many who have come before her.
I feel like Sarah as Roxie is a boring choice and a *yawn*. They will dumb down the choreography for her for sure. Josephina will be great but I do hope they don't put a black bob wig on her which a cop out and a safe choice.
I wonder if they are all contracted for a year? The Weisslers are cheap so probably got 4 month contracts and they will have revolving door like they do.
