Shaftesbury Avenue is the clue it is a smaller musical.
I wouldn’t think it be Aspects, because of the reasons already given.
There has been rumours for several years that there is a gender swapped Song and Dance in the works.

But that wouldn't fit the two big names with a Sondheim connection clue. Unless it was with them alternating the role.
There just aren't enough dancers associated with Sondheim to make the Dance section work

Well, you put "hand me" before the edit, so I'm guessing it's Aspects of Love then.

I have fears for the appeal of this show, la Ball or no.

I have fears for the appeal of this show, la Ball or no. Me too. As nice as some of the music may be, if there’s not a single person to root for in the story I don’t see the point.

Directed by someone who’s done a couple of musical revivals Though Laurence Connor sounds right, there is also the possibility of Mariah Friedman. ALW has been very complementary of her production of Merrily We Roll Along and has always championed and seems to want to work with her. She has also worked quite a bit with Don Black who wrote the lyrics, AND she was the original Giulietta in the Sydmonton production.

Those clues would indicate a possible Company connection... Aspects with Rosalie Craig as Rose...? Jonathan Bailey? He did win an Olivier. The clue says 2 major stars who have led 2 major shows, so maybe it is one and not the other but certainly not both. Michael Ball fits all the criteria (apart from Sweeney Todd being 10 years ago, so maybe not very recent) and definitely has a history with the show, so I would say he is one of the two. Hence the other performer could either be Rosalie or Jonathan.

What about Follies, that's a more recent Sondheim revival them Sweeney, anyone involved in that fit the bill maybe?

If the Jonathan Bailey guess is correct then I’ll be there every night lol! I imagine he’s probably got too many offers now since his popularity has skyrocketed after Bridgerton season 2

I hope it's Aspects, but I suspect it will be a very very tough sell. It's a very 'adult' musical, with not much plot, and there's been no commercially successful musical theatre in the last ten years for that demographic that I can think of, other than Sondheim revivals - certainly nothing else in theatres larger than the Menier, Donmar etc.
I know people find the characters unsympathetic, but I've personally never felt that. In fact, I see myself in them quite a lot. To me, the show feels like a long hot summer of drifting through the haze of love and longing - which is all I ever ask from life, really! I do find the score wears a bit thin at times (I wish there was more creative development of the - admittedly gorgeous - themes) but it truly works as a sung-through score. I hope, if it happens, they use David Cullen's Menier orchestrations, and I really, really hope that finally we'll get a new cast recording!
Alternatively, is it too soon for a Cinderella revival. where they actually get it right this time?!?

Wasn’t there talk of a gay Tell Me On A Sunday? JB could do that. I wouldn’t see it in a million years, mind.
