So designed for pro arch th, when and where do you think it will come to in west end? I hope they wait until they can get Charlie Stemp for it. He seems to be the man of the moment. |

With the announcement of the Curve’s new ‘42nd Street’ production taking the Summer 2023 slot at Sadler’s Wells, I guess that pushes a potential transfer of CFY there out of the mix?

Half standing ovation tonight but still no denying that this production is something special. There aren’t many shows like this these days are there? To hear an overture player feels like a luxury. On the show itself, the costumes, the choreography and performances are all top notch. I sort of envy Chichester locals for having such a brilliant producing house but living in London, I shouldn’t complain. There’s nothing more euphoric than hearing Gershwin played by a live orchestra and when you add choreography by a 5x Tony winner, this Crazy For You is a bona fide spectacle that deserves every inch of praise received so far. No doubt, plans to transfer are already brewing and I hope we get a new cast recording too as the vocals are lovely in this as are the new orchestrations.

There is a very good reason why full standing ovations don’t happen at Chichester. Cheeky!! There was a full standing ovation when I went on Tuesday night. Plenty of wee nippers in the audience. Lovely production of a particularly wafer-thin entertainment. But I suppose that’s part of its charm. Charlie had a little slip in one of his early tap numbers but recovered incredibly well. |

Really hope this does get a tour or West end run and that the sheer exuperance of the choreography and the timeless songs wins through and the lack of tickets sales for the other recent revivals, (my fair lady, South Pacific, anything goes run 2) does not put producers off.
Susan Stroman has reinvigorated the show judging from the reviews both from critics and the fortunate board members who have seen it. With a Charlie Stemp lead it has the potential to win over the west end once again and give us a full on singing, dancing, fun musical show.

Thanks for advising have amended link to Chichester who had been posting several and thought it was there.
The Susan Stroman choreography has certainly stood the test of time and is as exhilarating to watch even after all this years

In for a second time tonight, cheap seats again on the side so still haven't seen the choreography full on. Might have to sneak a third visit in...
But still love this show, very slick comic timing makes for an entertaining evening. Bonus to see swing Ryan Jupp taking over as Sam in Act Two.

I travelled from London on Tuesday to see this, travelling by train so had to have an overnight stay.
I enjoyed it so much that I booked an extra day at my accommodation for Wednesday night and went to see it again. It's a wonderful, full on show, how Charlie Stemp can even keep the energy up in this heat I do not know as at one point in Act 1 his shirt was just soaked through with sweat.
A highlight for me is I have a friend who is in it who I haven't seen for a couple of years, and a long catchup over a few beers in a favoured local hostelry on both evenings was the icing on the cake.
I'm going for one last visit on 2nd September because it's just so good.
If you do get a chance to see it, grab it with both hands, I don't think you'd be disappointed.
