Is Charlie out of the show atm? West End Covers tweeted that ‘today at CFY Jack is…’ so I’m assuming he’s doing both shows.

So talk about this not selling as well as it should. Hmm, just watched the trailer they sent to me by email. Terrible. If I didn’t know different then I would think twice about booking this on the trailer.

Has anyone seen Jack Wilcox in this? Very curious how he plays it, as it’s very much built around Charlie Stemp doing his “cheeky chappie” schtick. (That’s not a dig, he’s great.)

I did see a couple of posts from people who saw Jack Wilcox and said he was great. I'm thinking of booking for one of Charlie's holiday dates to see Jack as interested in how he interprets the role.

alece10 I saw Jack playing Riff in the West Side Story tour about 10 years ago. Was one of the first musicals I went to and I thought it was just stunning. Always annoyed I never went to see it when it was in Liverpool for the second time. Saw CFY with Charlie but wouldn’t mind seeing Jack. Will probably have closed by I get back to London though.

Have fond memories of this show both from the West end production. The uk tour and even an amateur production from the t.o.a.d.s. Torbay operatic amateur dramatics society which had the original sets and costumes and did top notch performance of the show. This modern revival while more or less a carbon copy didn't quite live up to memories, songs great as ever, the routines still look good but not the knock out compared to other shows around today.
When it did come from Broadway to west end those years back despite its old fashion nature it did seem fresh and different from other shows about and the choreography was powerful and the whole show just lifted your spirits. It also just had bags of charm and a natural flow, several times in the modern version they seem to ham up a gag or routine whereas previously it was left for the audience to pick it up naturally and respond.
Hopefully it may get to tour uk next year. Certainly wonderful to hear the score and songs being sung embracing love and life.

On the subject of gags, I don't recall Zangler's speech about water, including a toilet gag, at the very end of Act I being present in the Regent's Park production. I found it rather distasteful & jarring in tone compared to the rest of the show.

Visit number 3 last night and again a brilliant evening. Sat again in one of the "bouncy" seats. Love them as its almost immersive. Took a friend who admits she is not a fan of musicals. She is more ballet and modern dance person but she absolutely loved this. She had also not heard of Charley Stemp. I explained that in MT circles he is as big as you can get but outside of that he is unknown. I really wanted to stage door as I bought a poster last night and would love Charley to have signed it but has been told its about an hour before he comes out which was just too long for me. I never stage door but really wanted to do it for this show. I'm about to book my next visit and I'm going on one of the nights his understudy is on as I hear he is really good.

I can't imagine this musical having anything very racy?

Does anyone know if there is a way to get around the very annoying no single seats rule that LWT impose on their booking system? I have some time off in a couple of weeks and there is a very cheap restricted view seat in the front row (I've sat in it before for another show at the GL and it was fine), but I can't book it as it would leave a single seat.
It's a shame as I would love to see this and circumstance means I will have to go alone (Which I actually love doing to be honest!).

While not solving the single seat issue do make sure you are signed up for the lottery and online when they release tickets every Monday and Friday around 1pm. Always some great seats at 20 or 30 and while sometimes pairs often stalls singles or a block of three or more to be able to take one and not leave a single.

Call box office. They´re usually lovely and will most likely help you as much as they can.

Yes - access booking (via See Tickets or show website) on two devices. Hold one or more of the seats you don't want on one device, then select and buy the single you want on the other device. Once purchased, release the other seats. Job done!

I did the lottery today and managed to get a non restricted view seat in the centre of the front stalls for £30, priced at £75 on the standard site - result!
Thanks everyone for your advice.

I tried out the lottery today. The link arrived via email a few minutes before 1pm. Despite refreshing the screen from exactly 1pm there were no performances showing as bookable. BUT - don't think you've been gazumped like on Today Tix Daily Rush, by people with faster fingers than you. At around 1.15pm the bookable performances showed up. Great seats at £20 in stalls, or further forward for £30.
I wasn't buying today, but testing it out for future.
Still a good number of these available at 3.45pm today (same day as the Friday Rush 1pm release). So no...rush, if you see what I mean.

I got my email at around quarter to, but nothing was available at 1pm, but then I checked again at around 2pm and managed to get my ticket.

Saw the show last Friday. Had such a great time! The cast is superb and the orchestra sounded amazing. I'd recommend everyone to check it out, ticket prices are real low and you get a flawless production imo. I laughed so hard. Really love the show. Charlie Stemp is a star. I hope they manage to stay a bit longer, I'd love to see it at least one more time.

Very disappointed that Charlie Stemp is off tonight. Have been tempted to try and sell the tickets on.
