That would make the show 2 hours 15 including interval, I’m sure it’s longer than that. At the first preview they were citing times as Act 1: 65 mins 20 min interval Act 2: 55 mins and with a 7.45 start, we were out just after 10pm, even with a slight delay on that 7.45 start time. Oh fair enough, I stand corrected. I just checked the photos I took during the bows on my camera roll and they were time stamped 10:25 so I guess we must have just had a really long interval last Monday and a later start than I thought. |

First preview didn't go up till at least 8pm, so we were running quite behind. It's definitely 2 hours 20/25

Thanks for that. I don't know why they start at 19:45, last year it was 19:30. Given the geographic location of Regent's Park and being a 15 minute walk to Baker Street Station and then a tube to get to a National Rail Station, it makes it all very late getting home, especially on a weeknight. |

Nearly 75% of the ratings on here are 2 stars and under. With not one board member giving it 5 stars. It would appear from looking back that this is the worst ever received production by theatre board members!
Even Cinderella had a better rating! Interesting! The ratings we have here are, in my totally biased opinion, the most reliable ratings of any media outlet. Everyone gets to vote, outliers are fairly obvious, and people can change their rating if they see a dodgy preview then a better show in the main run. Why would anyone would be convinced by the opinion of one critic on one night? |

I didn’t see anything last year but I know they definitely started at 19:45 during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. I agree it’s annoying with getting home, I wonder if they partly start a little bit later so that more of the show happens after sundown during the peak summer months, and they can use the lighting to better effect. |

When I went the line for the bar was so long they didn't start till about 8ish. Which is great for their bar sales but not for us sprinting to get home!

Fair enough, it must have taken less time to get home after than I thought. I also assumed that the 7.45 start was to account for people getting lost/making the trek through Regent’s Park, which makes sense. |

Matt Hemley from The Stage went last night In days of yore, critics used to rush from their seats as the final curtain fell in order to file their copy as quickly as possible before things went to press. This is why critics are still often seated at the ends of rows to facilitate easy exits. In my days of regular reviewing, I perfected the art of silent clapping if I felt I was likely to be noticed. But not clapping is a perfectly legitimate response to a show that has failed in some way. I don't believe in booing to show your displeasure. But sitting quietly and not joining in the applause is not disrespectful. |

Although I disagree about their issue with the song Ireland (I always read it as poking fun at the rose-tinted view of Ireland from Americans who have never been or met an actual Irish person) I can't see the article since it's behind a paywall, but I'm very surprised if they have an issue with that song. The lyrics to "Ireland" were of course changed quite extensively for the original West End production to make them less about some romanticised, fictional, dreamlike Ireland dreamt up by a small town woman who'd never been there and more about a love Paulette gained for Irish men after her grandfather told her stories about the place. Those new lyrics were then adopted for the US tour and subsequent productions, since Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin felt they rounded off the character much better and made her seem less delusional. They haven't gone back to the original lyrics in this version, have they?! |

Haven't seen any national press yet (always interested in what Time Out says as he seems to have a good gage on stuff) but...is this board really so out of step with the critics when over 50% of reviews are 2 stars or LESS?

I loved it and I was easy to forgive the awful staging, some dodgy notes, etc - but even I wouldn't go to 5 stars!

It was always going to be lauded by the critics.
No one is going to stick their head up and say it fails on multiple levels because then the woke lot will all point and say you can’t be mean….

I consider myself 'woke' - mainly because I don't think "being alert to injustice in society" is an insult - but my problems largely were with the production and not the cast
