Hello. Does anyone knows how to get preview tickets for the show in London? Or aren't there any previews? There is solidly a month of 'previews'. Having a wander around the website, they are charging the same prices before 'first night' as after, and Fridays and Saturdays are very slightly more expensive than Mondays to Thursdays. Very surprised this isn't doing Sunday shows... |

Nice to see it’s mostly the same cast.
If nothing else it means London audiences won’t be deprived of the spectacle that is Marcus Collins during the curtain call. 😂

Hard to do it justice in words, but a lot of mugging, waving and pointing at random people. He has a fairly small role but comes out like he’s the star of the show greeting his adoring public. |

Interesting that Dominic Andersen isn't doing this and is instead doing Eugenius at the Turbine. Was he replaced by producers or did he opt not to do it himself? He was the one who played the Mother's boyfriend in Manchester right?

He was ever so slightly critical of the producers’ decision not to have any kind of publicity/press night/reviews of the Manchester run. That’s not enough to replace someone though, surely. Only has one song if I remember correctly, largely just there to be the hot younger model the wife’s moved on to. Samuel Edwards shouldn’t have much trouble stepping into his lycra shoes. |

Perhaps ‘What’s New Pussycat’ isn’t totally dead and he's hoping to originate THAT role in the W/E instead?

I would have like to see Mark Evans recreate the role of Stuart he played on Broadway. I guess he's staying in America now and happy to have a little off-Broadway role. |

I thought the promo on Comic Relief earlier was really good! Good tie in with David Tennant being Scottish too - compared to recent years and musicals on tv shows; thought they did a brilliant job.

The cast just appeared on Comic Relief. Not sure what to make of the number but it certainly didn't lack in energy.
Last time I saw Gabriel Vick he was a very young, timid Henrick in Night Music.
On another note anyone know what time the comedy bits start? 2 hours 30 mins in and I've yet to raise as much as a titter.

I haven’t see the show but the tv performance on Comic Relief certainly did not sell me or even intrigue me to find out more.
These tv performances can really be hit and miss.

From what I could tell when I saw it, it's essentially a fancy halloween mask that goes over the whole head, and is particularly tight around the facial features to make it look more realistic. It's whipped on and off constantly throughout the production so don't think any make up can be involved or it would take too long. I have to admit I was surprised it looked as good as it did on TV, so I wonder if perhaps they did it different for TV to help sell the show as, while I didn't think it looked bad in the theatre, I don't remember it looking that good! |

One word, ‘Why?. Why is this production being brought over here after its bellyflop on Broadway? If that embarrassing clip from Comic Relief is anything to go by, it looks to be toe-curling dated .
Haven’t the camp stereotypes portrayed by Marcus Collins and his friend disappeared along with John Inman & Larry Grayson these days? Also dated was the song which sounded like a clunky reversioning of ‘It’s Raining Men’ to me.
What on Earth were the audience doing erupting into wild whoops and applause at repeatedly random moments in the number for ? Maybe they were plied with drink beforehand? Or reacting to a hyperactive floor manager?
The poor lead actor with the variable American accent,looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights as he was dragged around the stage while a manic fever dream unfolded featuring including Lady Diana, Jackie Onassis and Cher (“ with all that hair”).
Who are the intended demographic for this show? I am genuinely mystified. Is the Mrs Doubtfire narrative strong enough to hold its own without Robin Williams or stunt casting? Maybe the appetite for nostalgia in the west end is greater than I think? I hope it’s a success of course but I doubt that Comic Relief clip is likely to provoke a stampede at the box office.

Theatre, for all its self congratulatory of being progressive, always uses the same stereotypes of gay people. Sure, stereotypes exist for a reason, but when it's the only representation used (and for cheap laughs) it's no ok. I love the original movie but I think it's one that really hinges on Robin Williams. |
