Haven't seen or heard of this before, but this description makes it incredibly obvious that they're most likely seriously overselling this. "Eugenius!, the most eagerly anticipated new musical for years, is coming to London in January 2018 with a strictly limited run at The Other Palace.
Through underground word-of-mouth, and a very public concert performance – selling out the London Palladium – Eugenius! is fast becoming a cult phenomenon.
The show is a teenage love story set against a backdrop of comic books and superheroes.

They said the future of British musicals was Exposure before - though that had the wonderful Niamh Perry to listen to, amidst the sillyness, and awful book. . Hype needs not to be too hyperbolic , to have some credibility. As things are going , the future of British musicals may be the panto at the Palladium - as that sells all its super premium priced seats while - You Can't .... , Exposure, Viva not for long, Bendit , and Mrs H . couldn't . Eugenius was fun. It just needs an ending , and one thats supported by some real props and special effects his time - and the right casting. Amy Lennox could play and sing the central female character really well - and it had a set of strong male leads and a fit Strallen going for it at the Palladium. Worth a visit for Amy alone, probably not, though, if they get the casting wrong. |

Rehearsals begin next week. Scott Paige (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang/The Addams Family) confirmed on instagram he is part of the cast.  |

Well, that's rather fabulous casting. Laura Baldwin was the star of the show for me in Big Fish. Looking forward to seeing Loserville alumnus Dan Buckley again too!

Was holding out for casting, but can safely say I've not heard of any of them. Bravo to the brave producers putting on an unknown musical with an unknown cast - exactly what the Other Palace needs!

Isn't The Other Palace, as a venue which describes itself as "dedicated to discovering, developing and reimagining musical theatre", the obvious place to be staging a new musical? If they can give a young professional cast of emerging talent the chance to shine in the process then all the better. There's always Barnum at the Menier if you want a known musical with a celebrity in the leading role... |

I'm semi-interested but the only detail I've been able to find on any website is a single sentence and having listened to (part of) the 3 soundtrack clips available online, they all sounded similar and horribly screechy and American (yes, I do know it's set in the US).
Hence so far it's not tempting me hugely but that's partly due to it being largely an unknown quantity. I'm quite happy seeing a cast I've never heard of, whether any of them are known or not, and to support new work/emerging talent, but the music is key for me.

It's about a lad who writes comics and then one of his comics get's made into a film, but then his comic actually comes to life or turns out to be real and the lad becomes the hero of the story. |

Depends of course on how much its changed since the Palladium. But that was fun, funny, and had some decent tunes - as well as a nostalgia factor . it got a very good reception. A good pick me up for a winters day. The plot like many musicals, fizzles at the end as they look for an end, but would work if they spent more than 10 p on some props, and have worked a bit on it. Most poeple will get the 80s references, and its fun still without that. Westendwilma did a good review that doesn't give too much plot away. My problem is it worked with a top knotch set of westend leads who can sing really well, and act really well , and do comedy. At a quick look only Daniel Buckley is back - though quite a few of the 2016 leads, are doing something else in early 18. . Instead, its been cast with a cast of people who don't register with me apart from Cameron Blakely - which is unsual for the Other Palace - where The Party was stuffed with top names, and shows like the Whisper House went out with at least 3.They may have done a brilliant job with the casting, but it doesn't sing out come and see me again.. |

Guys they have just realeased £10 front row side seats for this entire week of previews! I sat there both times at Big Fish and the view wasn't at all bad, so a tenner is a steal! Snap them up whilst you can! |

I sat there both times at Big Fish and the view wasn't at all bad, so a tenner is a steal! Be careful. They have also taken the outermost 2 in row A, and aisle seat in B off sale, and dropped the ends of C and D to 3rd price, plus off-centre seats in A to C to second or third. Sightlines will be quite different, I'm told. For £10 you can't go wrong, but it may not be quite as good as "Big Fish" was. Meh, thats OK. I've sat front row 5 out of 5 times at this theatre now, so if there is any issue, its not the end of the world. Plus i was smart and booked the closest seat to central at the tenner price, which is the seat next to the central ones, so it'll be fine. |

Any verdicts on this yet from Previews? Listened to the soundtrack on Spotify last night (while shopping in Lidl, classy) and quite enjoyed it so might book for later in the run

Usually at least one of us makes the effort to take the plunge and go. I did it for Big Fish, someone else take the reigns. |

I was there too! Lovely show! Liam Forde (Eugenius) is so so so sweet, i'm in love.And is voice is very good!

I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this tonight. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's got a heck of a lot going for it. The score is good, some duds but some incredibly catchy tunes. Book could be improved, but it doesn't take itself too seriously and works with what it's got.
Cast are exceptionally good, I couldn't really fault them. Dan Buckley seemed to be channelling a cross of Elder Cunningham and Dewey Finn - I'd love to see him in SoR!
Certainly leave all expectations of reality and rational explanation at the door, go along with it and you'll have a whale of a time.
It's in the same basket as Bananaman and The Toxic Avenger, sitting somewhere between the two for me.

Enjoyable enough show. Lot of the 80s references, almost too many! Story very 80s movie in that it didn't really wor, bit it didn't really matter!
Musically they made songs that sound like you've heard them before, so you end up humming them on your way home.
£10 seats a7 and A6 fantastic value... Blocked by cast occasionally... But clear view otherwise. One up/down side..? A lot of lycra costumes. Don't leave much to imagination!
