It is possible to choose your seat from the seat map again. I hated that this wasn’t available when I booked but if I waited it looks like I wouldn’t have got my bottom price seat. Not a super fan of Abba but intrigued enough for a day at Olympic park, matinee of ABBA then time for a proper evening show after.

Just grabbed a £49.50 single seat I'm happy with for the first Monday performance. A lot of early dates almost sold out with mostly VIP/Package seats left and resale tickets already appearing.
Definitely worth knowing that the choose your seat option is sometimes disabled when a sale or presale opens, but goes live once the initial rush clears. Similar system at the Royal Albert Hall for some of their one-off and short-run concerts.

Booking extended to October 4th. A month add on which is shorter than I expected for the first extension as can imagine it would market well as the Christmas party event for 2022.
The dynamic pricing program working overtime it seems, some big savings if you can go on the week days.

Lord, the ticket prices! I'm trying to think who I know who uses a wheelchair who'd like to go, as the provision of wheelchair spaces is excellent, as are the prices of those £30 tickets for user and companion.... Maybe this show will strike a blow for disability access in theatre, as a purely mercenary by-product...
Otherwise...those side bank £31 tickets - will they be any good?? This is essentially still the old 'peppers ghost' Victorian illusion isn't it? I think the avatar aspect, with pictures of all those multi motion capture cameras has reflected a gloss onto the illusion part, making it seem more revolutionary than it is. Am I wrong in thinking the illusion can't work so well from a side view? It's projected onto an angled screen, but if you sit round the side you're not going to see further round the bodies of the avatars. They aren't 3D/holograms.

That article says nothing about how the Abba members will be recreated other than emphatically denying that they will be holograms. So, yes, I expect Peppers' ghosts at times and simple projections at others. The side views are not going to be good I fear.

Interesting article. It says that the Whitney Houston tour was a hologram, but they're not going for that. As the 'hologram' of Houston was projected by laser onto a surface, that's not quite what I think of as a hologram, I guess there are some aspects of 3D they can manage, but recordings look bad.
As they motion captured ABBA, wouldn't it be more exciting to don a VR headset and walk around the band as they play? Having done the capture perhaps this won't be too far behind.
There will never be true 3D holograms, unless they find how to project images onto...smoke/haze. VR headsets has more scope.
The musical 'The Grinning Man' was captured for future VR headsets, for instance.

The screens used in The Mandolorian were AMAZING!! you would never have known they filmed the majority of it in a studio.
I dont get why, if Abba can do 5 weeks of motion capture, why they couldnt do a few live concerts in person.

The Abba Voyage site says Auditorium Seating Choose from a wide variety of seats at a range of different prices depending on where you’d like to sit. Pricing is based on the location of the seats, but every seat is a good one. And customer support said that there are no seats with restricted view. It wont be the best seats in the house but it's probably not going to be that bad. Based on that NME article I'm even more looking forward to the show! Sounds absolutely great.

I think they'd sound very vocally tired after a few numbers - based on the vocals on the newly released balled after all its studio production. Does sound like they've recorded new vocals for the avatar show - perhaps to mix with the original to get some live spontaneity into it. Also the crowd will be adding to the sound, not sitting quietly intently listening, so a rougher sound would be appropriate. The occasional 'c'mon' to the crowd, invite to join in a chorus, and all that stuff.

Abba could record a large majority of their back catalogue in this medium and then just send it out every year with a different setlist and they're laughing all the way to the bank. Not that Benny and Bjorn need it by now.

Well it's been confirmed that many more songs than the 22 song set list were motion-captured, so there is every possibility the show will adapt, or songs will be swapped out.

My apologies, I wasn't aware of that. There are so few bands or artists who could do this kind of project, and I like ABBA, but it just feels like too much like a cash grab. But of course, there is a huge market for it and good for them for investing what is obviously an awful lot of money into it.

New tickets on sale up to December. My parents were really keen to go so I bought them two of the £32 tickets.

I didn’t think I was bothered about this but I just found out that ‘The Visitors’ was in the set so I have caved and will now be spending Big Liz’s birthday in the company of the Abbatars. I’m really quite excited now.

I'm going on the 4th June. Booked the day tickets went on sale. It was only later I realised it was Jubilee weekend. Anyway going with a friend who is coming down from Manchester and we are doing the flower thingie at Tower of London, ABBA and cinderella all on the same day. It will be exhausting fun.
