Do we know what the other songs are?
I do have some insider information, but I probably shouldn't be sharing it. I'll just say "Take A Chance On Me" will be coming....

I´ve been obsessed with ABBA since I was 8, know most of their songs like the back of my hand... But I´m waiting until they add some more songs. Why Trouper isn´t there yet is beyond me. Are you aware this is happening? abbathemovie.comVery much so, yes. Already bought my tickets.

Very much so, yes. Already bought my tickets. I'm Australian and they used to have a monthly showing at the local University in Brisbane once a month back in the 90's. OMG when I say it was the most amazing experience ever I am not doing it justice. It was like a sing-a-long Rocky Horror experience, complete with ridiculous shout outs at various moments throughout. It was MEGA fun and the experience of seeing them live with the amazing sound of a cinema was just magical!

I do love the song choices in the movie, and have never seen it on a big screen so maybe?
My vote would be for ‘If It Wasn’t For The Nights’ if they wanted to throw another deep cut in there. I don’t just want Abba Gold.

As this just keeps going On and On and On it sounds like ABBA and the production team are asking the audience to Take A Chance On Me- see what I did there?

They have announced two shows on April 6th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABBA win at eurovision with Waterloo. All attendees will get an exclusive voyage Waterloo gift and a free drink voucher. They had this date blocked until now so presume they have decided how ABBA will celebrate the anniversary and unlikely they will be at the concert. Swedish TV has a live gala on the night which is more likely one or two members of the group may attend. Brighton the host of euro vision in 1974 apparently has a range of events and concert on the night. The Mamma Mia show only has a matinee showing for the Saturday so possibly something planned there but would be unfortunate to make multi events and make UK ABBA fans decide which to go to so hoping they may turn up at the evening voyage show. With expected release of the Waterloo album on half speed master and picture discs of the singles and a box set to continue the releases they have been doing since some albums started to reach anniversary marks it's another expensive year being a ABBA fan.

There must be a demand for it. And I bet they're selling like hotcakes!
I reckon we've got this experience hanging around for quite some time yet.

Someone told me that they only have another 3 years lease on the land and then it's being developed into social housing. Don't know how true that is but I think at the beginning they said it would be here for 5 years and then move on.

I understood that the situation had progressed in that respect, and (I guess due to the runaway success) that the venue had no deadline to work to anymore.
You know what local authorities are like - change planning rules all the time to suit themselves and are generally answerable to no one.
Perhaps Svana, Ludwig and co bunged the council top brass a proverbial "brown envelope"....

Just received the following email:
Join us on 6th April to celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABBA's Eurovision win
In the spring of 1974, ABBA made history by winning the Eurovision Song Contest with their iconic song "Waterloo" in Brighton, England. The win helped catapult the band to international fame, and "Waterloo" became one of the most popular and enduring songs ever. 6th April 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the historic win.
To celebrate this occasion, we are excited to announce that tickets for our 6th April 2024 concerts are now on sale. All ticket holders for the matinee and evening performances will receive an exclusive ABBA Voyage x Waterloo commemorative gift upon arrival, along with a complimentary drink voucher.
We look forward to celebrating this milestone occasion with you and hope to see you there.

There was a recent article in the Times about this...saying they want to stay and in negotiations to see if they can stay and have the new housing developments in an slightly different area. It also mentioned another arena to be sit up in Germany and (I think) Australia..

Given the hysteria at the time (even though I was a child, I still remember it vividly) it would seem foolish not to take it to Australia. No other country took to ABBA the way Australia did. So much so that ABBA- The Movie was filmed there. The song Bang-a-boomerang was written and the video clip filmed there.

I think Australia is the obvious choice and have always thought it would open there next. Not sure about Germany though as its so easy to get to London from most of Europe and I can't see Germans being big ABBA or Eurovision fans. (They are far too serious a nation). Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't open one up in Vegas.

Bang-a-Boomerang was written in 1974, way before they hit the big time in Australia, so I'd be surprised if it was written there? Happy to be proved wrong of course!
