You can only assume at this stage that Heathers and 2:22 A Ghost Story are a front for some kind of money laundering scheme, because there's no other explanation as to why they're still around....!
(I'm kidding...sort of...)

I really don't understand why people object to a show touring that clearly has a fanbase, is profitable, keeps people employed, and is quite fun.
No one objects to Six (for example) clogging up a theatre, even though its rare that anyone posts in that thread. Nothing against Six.
I've also seen the Heathers' regulars move onto other shows. There were plenty of people I recognised at Jamie. So (putting my honorary teenage girl like status aside), I'd even view this as a theatre gateway.
I, personally, am looking forward to seeing Heathers again.

Has anyone heard any casting rumours? Presumably the tour cast as per previous announcement of the summer tour.

This show is like a cockroach that cannot be killed. Completely agree! I guess it’s oxygen and sustenance requirements are low 🤷🏻♂️

Has anyone heard any casting rumours? Liam Dean and Jacob Fowler have been teasing on TikTok. Carly Burns told me she had something lined up she couldn't talk about yet.

The way I wouldn´t pay more than a tenner for this. How on earth are the cheapest seats 40 quid??!!?! The same as Guys and Dolls standing, for example...

Dark theatre - not dark anymore.
Out of work performers - not out of work for a period of time.
People that like it and can’t see it - can now see it again.
Just coming out of a recession - money generated with only a small outlay.
Makes perfect sense to me.

I'd expect to see any prior Heathers cast members who don't make it back into this Heathers cast to join Ghost.
Perhaps a previous Heather and JD as Molly and Sam.

It's not Carly - she's teaching musical theatre in Dubai for two months, and only left yesterday. I knew she was going to do that, but I thought it was for just one month. She will be back in time for the tour though.

It’s the clamour to use the ‘what a waste/there are so many shows looking for a home’ argument that makes me howl. If they were ready to go and their financial model fit the venue they would already be in there! Nobody wants an empty house.
‘Heathers’ is really inclusive, entry level theatre that has, and will continue to, bring youngsters (and oldsters) into smaller theatre spaces in the West End showing that not everything makes sense in the Adelphi or Victoria Palace. Anyone who claims to be a patron of the arts bemoaning this, needs to have a long hard look at both themselves and the landscape of London theatre land. Because things are not the same as they were ten years ago, and for a production to be as financially agile and adaptable as this is, deserves our praise…whether you like the show or not.

17:00 and 20:30 shows on a Friday. That's a very tight schedule. Sensible though, as I'm sure fans will stay for both performances. Then two shows on a Saturday. Surprised they aren't running on a Sunday though.

What exactly are the issues with this show? Am spending two day in London in May and this just popped up as a rare Tuesday matinee opportunity on the 28th. Was going to stump up the big bucks just to get a ticket and forget about it until then, but these comments have given me pause! It is simply a bad show? I have no connection/knowledge of Heathers beyond the movie. Do you think it's worth hanging on for a TodayTix offer or similar?

The DVD of the live show is out, so people really do only need to pay £10 to see what it's all about, and avoid the fandom crowd (which I always find difficult as all that fervour makes me resist and lean the other way). amyja89, if you're unsure bag a DVD and spend the big money on something else.

Listen to the cast recording and you’ll soon get an idea of whether the style is for you or not. But there’s definitely a snobbery towards it because of how often it comes back around, on tour or now in the West End. I suppose it’s best described as ‘Heathers fatigue’ but that’s mainly coming from people who have no intention of going to see it anyway.

My personal issue is that I listened to the off-Broadway album religiously when it came out, knew it inside out. The UK production has turned the show into a bit of a pantomime and I think it's lost all it's edge. In fairness, seeing clips from the original off-Broadway production, that staging didn't seem to wow me either. I think there's a good show with a killer score in there but Andy Flickman's direction for both productions takes all the grit out of it. Would love to see a director take this show on who understands the campy nature, but also the darker elements (Jamie Lloyd used to be excellent at this a la Urinetown, but his style seems to be a lot different as of late)

There is a filmed version on Amazon freevee you could have a look at if you wanted an idea of the tone etc. I wouldn’t watch it all, but just to give yourself an idea.
I disagree that they need to lean into the camp more; it shouldn’t be. It should be deadly serious with the naturally campy bits speaking for themselves .

I mean it can't be a "bad" show as it keeps returning and has lots of very loyal fans. For me the original had three problems - I felt visually it looked very cheap (classic Kenwright wobbly set) - There was an absolute circus surrounding CHF's appearance and her fangirl army (so much so that as a single man over 40 I felt a bit uncomfortable in the audience when I went). Stagedoor and Twitter were out of control. Flying cupcakes in the auditorium etc etc. - I had a meh response to the show - but I dunno if in the absence of the above two factors I'd have enjoyed it more. I did actually buy the CD (keen to support pretty much any London musical actually bothering with an OLC AND releasing it physically) and the score is not bad - actually enjoyed listening to it more in my living room than seeing the show. But don't think there is any reason not to go and make up your own mind!
