Doesn't look great. Guess was always gonna be a hard sell. Became something of a fangirl/Jordan appreciation show in London which guess doesn't sustain it on road. Also have never seen so many discounts as the second run at the Garrick.
Shame as I do think it's a good musical with some great songs.

It's insane that they tried to milk that cow like they did.
They should have been happy with the initial sold out concerts and subsequent run at the Arts Theatre.
Are these the same producers that are now trying to bring Your Lie in April to the West End?

This is on par with Cinderella imo for mismanaged closing Oh Cinderella was WAY worse. At least the cast will be aware on Bonnie and Clyde - I imagine they were told to just not go to the next venue? |

The word "disappointing" is interesting. They could have stated that sales were lackluster, or not up to par. But disappointing...
Surely in a press release like this you're trying to minimise the notion of spectacular failure..!

When something shuts this suddenly, it's usually because the producers only have enough cash left to pay the 2 weeks they legally have to pay everyone. At that point they just can't afford to move it again.

I had tickets for this in Brighton for July. They haven't contacted me about the cancellation, and it's still on sale on their website.
Little disappointed as I'd missed this on the West end, but I can see the tickets weren't selling well - I actually needed to ring up to change the date I was going as my friend arranged her hen do for the same day, and I would have had no issue moving to any other day with how empty it was. So it's saved me a job of ringing, I guess, although I hope Theatre Royal Brighton make contact soon.

At that point they just can't afford to move it again. They owe an awful lot of money, apparently. The fact it is more financially viable to not play the two weeks notice period speaks volumes. There are rumours of the trucking companies and hire companies being owed tens of thousands of pounds a piece so I wouldn't be supposed if one or more had removed there kit and/or services. The company found out via social media and rumours instead of being told properly. A great shame. |

This seems such a mess - the weird casting, hardly heard anything about this tour.

I'm always surprised by some of the shows that producers decide to take on tour. Maybe they thought this would attract the same crowd as Heathers?
I think we lose sight, living in the London bubble, of what sells and does well out in the rest of the country. In a cost of living crisis, few people are going to take a chance on a ticket for a show that is very little known outside of musical theatre fan circles.

The final London run didn’t exactly sell well in London and that’s despite Jordan’s fanbase, I’m not sure what they were expecting by taking this one on the road.

Really not surpised. They had reduced price tickets for months for ages, then took blocks of seats off sale when it was in Manchester.
