Yeah I tried it and got 6300+. Considering they were sold out completely of tickets by 1300ish in the queue last time, I've pre-emptively given up :')

oh wow! i thought it was super easy & i was booking on my phone from portugal - i logged in at 11.45 & when i joined the queue only 62 people ahead of me!
i got myself a restricted view stalls seat for closing night, as that’s the only night i could make!

Was 900 odd in queue, got on just after 12.30, a few circle standing tickets left for stream night, the rest gone so fastest sell yet.

All gone: We’re sorry but tickets for in-person performances of The Tragedy of Macbeth have now sold out. Tickets are still available to watch our live streamed performances next week.

Question guys. The live stream. Will this be worth it. Is it like NT live edited with different camera angles etc or a single view from a lone camera middle stalls? Not well explained on their website.

It's been a while since I watched Hymn, their last livestream, and that was filmed without an audience so it's hard to say how indicative it'll be of how this is filmed but it most definitely wasn't just a lone camera in the stalls, there was lots of handheld movement iirc. I also don't think they'd cheap out on something with big names like this, I honestly can't think of a single theatre livestream I've seen that has been a stationary single camera so I really doubt this is going to be anything like that. |

For the few remaining standing tickets in the circle today it said for all that there would be restricted views because of cameras being used to film and that there would be an on stage camera so audience members might be filmed. Or something like that but anyway sounds like multiples.

I did not get tickets, but am desperate to see this in person. Might be no harm to call the box office every now and again. When we saw it last week, two people nearby at got returns earlier that same morning. |

If you have the time queue from early morning. I arrived from Ireland at about 8.30am for Hamlet (before the filming and transfer were announced)and there was a longish queue and the 16 dayseats were gone at 10.30 once the box office opened. I went on a waiting list and you weren't allowed to leave the theatre as you had to be there if a seat became available. It was an exhausting day - I sat in the café on my tablet and organised some work at at about 3.30pm my name was called. I got a restricted view seat for £10 which was just up high and not really restricted. I just had time to go check into my hotel and shower and get something to eat before the show. I was questioning my wisdom but Andrew Scott soon dispelled that

Yes I agree, it is making it seem even more over-stylised than it appears to be. Cutting the audience applause to a blank screen at the interval was just odd. It is reminding me of the recent NT Romeo & Juliet broadcast (the O'Connor/Buckley one). |

Camera angles driving me mad assume choices to fit with play choices but I'd quite like to see more than one person at a time or you know two people but you get both their heads in shot.

Yes I agree. Also not well thought through given the number of times a cameraman has been caught in the shot!
I am glad they have streamed it given getting a ticket was practically impossible, but the way they have done it sadly hasn't held my attention.

Tried the Live Stream, managed half an hour but close ups didn't work with slow pace and use of the full stage and glass screens and just couldn’t hold my attention. I should really have remembered I’m not good with live streams but I think the way they did it and probably the production itself didn't help the format either. Never mind, Almeida got a bit of my money until I get back again sometime!

And instead of seeing the bows we get finally to hear a bit of the applause over some end credits. Really, really odd.
The camera blocking needs to be completely rethought for the remaining showings, it just got worse as the play went on - such as an entirely unnecessary close up of Lady Macbeth after her death where you could see Saoirse Ronan breathing, and a shot in one of the final monologues that cut off the top of James McArdle's head (but wasn't so close that it seemed deliberate).
It's a shame, because the performances are decent and the cuts mostly work well. But as a filmed performance I was taken out of the atmosphere by the shot choices rather than drawn into it.

I really loved the production on this. Loved the visceral and the embedding in nature and, given the time of year amd Samhain, the essential celtic, druidness of it.
Off choice aboit not seeing the bows...weird and obviously.as far as filming goes it was a bit 9f a tech rehearsal. When they film one live they usually do film it earlier that day or the previous one for a run through. No chance here I gather.
As for the acting. I mean just uniformly brilliant.
