The info has gone now as it's fully booked - what was on offer? Oof, test my memory 😟 In summary it was 1200 to 4.30 pm. You got free lunch and drinks. All seating was premium, at tables and front stalls. Six numbers would be performed, cast not mic’d they would be singing to a track. Some numbers would be done more than once for editing purposes. No dress code, come as yourself but maybe yourself as you would be on a Saturday night at the theatre. Please avoid logo t-shirts and “light coloured hats” ?? Moet for everybody! 🙌 |

I did nip back on Monday. mainly because I managed to get a £33 ticket at the back of the Dress Circle, which is the lowest price I've seen.
I got to see Rhea Norwood as Sally. She was very good, although I was slightly spoilt having seen Nic Myers the previous week.
The highlight was finally seeing the talented Toby Turpin in a lead role. He was on as Ernst Ludwig. A slightly later take on the role, but it worked. A few other covers on as well.
The only downside of having a view looking down was seeing someone sat in the prime table seat at the side of the stage who kept checking his watch and looked like he was falling asleep at various points. Well, some people have the money to spend how they choose. Hopefully I'll get that opportunity at some point.

Third visit to the KitKat Club this afternoon and absolutely loved it - again!!! Just a thoroughly incredible show - I could go again and again!
I’d got a group booking organised so paid £75 for Row D of the Circle many months ago…! A quick visit to the box office with one of my friends in the group and they offered us Cabaret Table Seats B5&6 in the stalls for £30 upgrade.
Fantastic seat to be in - and great to be that close without having to have spent so much in one go!!!!

After everything on the internet recently, it's specifically stirred a few people into complaining about the fact that the pre-second-act immersive bit is very specifically involved in the pricey seats.
reminded me that, the night I went (back when mason was emcee) it was james corden's son who got pulled up (looking entirely uncomfortable and tbh too young to be up there), which was making me giggle.

This is... not in good shape right now.
Intentionally booked on a Layton night off as I simply couldn't of sat through that, but I can't lie that this is...not great at the moment.
Rhea's intentions are good, and her Maybe This Time was lovely, but her inexperience as an actress showed - it just didn't feel like she had any grasp on most of what she was saying, which led to a rendition of Cabaret that didn't make one iota of sense.
Opposite her, is an Emcee again that made absolutely no sense either. Toby went for camp for the entirety of act 1, which I guess is ok if there's something behind it, but it left him a mountain to climb in act 2, and he just didn't climb it.
The ensemble are...fine, but the numbers are not as sharp as they should be (or have been in trips I've seen earlier in the run) - the choreo particularly needs tightening.
It really needs Frecknall to go in for a week and tidy it up I think.
All that negativity aside, Sally Ann Triplett is giving an absolutely knock out performance as Schneider (as I knew she would!) so it was entirely worth a return to see her.
This is the 5th time I've seen this show, and it definitely felt 'Tuesday night 3 years in' which is hasn't in repeat visits.
I won't be going back to see it unless they nail the casting for the two leads and cast people that are 'unmissable'

There's a pre-show walkthrough experience, where you walk through the converted bars of the Playhouse Theatre as performers move and dance and play instruments around you.
All of the actual interaction in the main performance is down in the cabaret tables. The performers in the club scenes will walk amongst the tables, sit on them, etc.
In the interval they may drag you up on stage if you're in the front row of cabaret tables and you look ready and willing to go! |

Went tonight for my fifth trip! Got some resale tickets for 30 quid, sat in the dress circle behind the stage. Definitely worth sitting the other side but fun for a one off.
Had the pleasure of seeing Liv Alexander as Sally, my God she was phenomenal. Favourite Sally I have seen, fantastic vocals and acting, really cannot rave enough about her! She honestly knocked every song out of the park.
Loved Layton, not knowing them previously. Great dancer, solid singer, made some interesting choices and a really solid Emcee! My second favourite behind Mason (and very close to James McRea).
Also had an understudy Cliff who's performance I really enjoyed after not being sold on Cliff in the past.
Show is in great shape I think!

I made a return trip to the KitKat club last week and I'm delighted to report that the new summer cast are sensational.
I'm always a little wary of film/tv actors being cast in this show (over MT performers) but I have to say - what a debut from Rhea Norwood. She has the charisma, eccentricity and manic energy of Sally down and the growing desperation and vulnerability she seeps into her performance is palpable. All her solos were absolute knockouts.
As Emcee, Layton Williams owns the stage with his exuberant showmanship and his enchanting voice/movement. All of which comes with the just right amount of malevolance bubbling away beneath the surface (which is bone-chilling when unleashed in Act 2). A real departure from his Jamie performance and a thrilling one to behold.
Sally Ann Triplett is towering as Fräulein Schneider, bringing a sense of gravitas but also humour and aching humanity to the role. She has perfect chemistry with the painfully endearing Fenton Grey as Heir Schultz. The moments they share bring so much heart to the show and you can't help rooting for them in spite of everything.
Sadly I didn't get to see Michael Ahomka-Lindsey who I hear is an excellent Cliff, but just like last time I went, the Kit Kat boys & girls and the prologue company do a fantastic job of immersing the audience in the heady Berlin nightclub atmosphere and those big group numbers are bursting with a bawdy chaotic energy.
Still one of the best theatre experiences around. I hope to come back and see it at least once per year for many years to come.

Katherine Langford is a decent name - she led the hit series "13 Reasons Why," as well as having a big role in the first "Knives Out." I assume they don't need much more than that for those weeks - it's Christmas season, and this show should basically sell itself at this point.
Perhaps Langford will go to Broadway in time, as other American/American-popular casting choices (Mason Alexander Park, Cara Delevigne, Maude Apatow) seem set to.

Must admitt I am happier about this casting than I was about Rhea Norwood - she has annoyed me so much in everything I have seen her in that I didnt bother wth tickets to this cast of Cabaret.
It will be a shame to see Will Scolding go - he has been my favourite Ernst
