I hope they don't sanitise it and also don't do kids in the roles but you never know with Disney, they might want to avoid potential controversies of having somewhat explicitly adult jokes in a film that might be percieved as appropriate for children and also avoid doing something more theatrical like having adults play young children on film.

A couple of years back?! It was a decade ago now! Anyway, I love William Finn's shows and welcome any additional exposure to his music but I'm just not sure this will work without massive changes to the whole concept.

I agree. Do it as it is or leave it alone. I've only seen it Am Dram but it's an enjoyable show!

It was a good few years ago now. Quirky little show but I did enjoy it and a great cast.

I saw that production too...Um. Rolf Harris had to spell didgeridoo when I saw it... (FML) this was BEFORE HE WAS OUTED AND CONVICTED. Also saw Mountview's production for MA students, a few years later. I think it's very marmite and I personally don't warm to it. However the 'adults' are hilarious and the quips they do. I can see the appeal in Disney adapting it. But "The I Love You Song" - is a stunning trio number and I Speak Six Languages" shine in this show.

I love the show, but a lot of the charm is seeing adults playing children but walking that line between realism and parody. I just know the movie will cast children and I really dont think that will work. I have a horrible feeling with it being branded as Disney, like into the woods, it will lose any edge it had and just become a terrible Disney Channel Original Movie that happens to be an adaptation.
I wouldnt really want a movie movie of this, a proshot sure but not a real movie, but a DISNEY branded movie? No thank you!

I was very hesitant to Disney adapting Woods but thought it worked rather well in the end. I guess a part of this was having Lapine and Sondheim very much onboard aka writing the screenplay.
I'd be interested to see how this pans out
