and the show also started at a smaller theater here in NY and went on to become the success it did, so I’m not worried about a 12 week west end run at all, especially right in the middle of heavy tourist season.

No matter how good it is, has it got broad appeal? I’ve read all of the accolades on here but still have zero interest in seeing it. And as much as mental health is much more widely discussed these days, quite rightly so, I think if I pitched this to my friends it would be hard to sell it to them.

All the anticipation of this coming to the UK and it only sold out a 250 seat venue weeks before its first preview, and that includes all the Donmar members/friends/donors etc, Who aren't as likely to see it again at the Wyndhams. It's a stretch to act like the potential audience for this show has been "used up". Not everyone keeps up-to-date with the works of tiny off-West End venues; most casual theatregoers probably weren't even aware of the Donmar Warehouse production's existence. Don't underestimate the power of a central London location and an ad campaign. Obviously nobody knows for sure, but Next to Normal ran on Broadway for two years (in an 800-seat venue). I'm optimistic. It's a stretch to say i even said anything like that. I didn't. Not even close
Members of the Donmar Theatre, Friends of, Donors etc are typically older people who don't go and see a show numerous times. They made a up big chunk of the audience at the Donmar, helping it to sell out.
I really enjoyed the show, saw it 3 times and will see it again at the Wyndhams, but lets not be deluded about it automatically being a sell out smash hit.

I'll see it again regardless but really hope as many of the Donmar lot as possible are back.

Well I’m annoyed at myself because somehow I completely missed that there was a sign up for priority booking - hoping there are tickets in my price range left for the performances I’m hoping to book on Friday

What I mean is, the show is in my opinion designed to represent a prototypical family that everyone should relate to at least one or more of the characters for. It has universal themes that I think most people can relate to in some way. And it's a pop/rock score that appeals more to the general public than just pure theatre fans. It's not one of these very odd 'sophisticated' shows where there is a fine line between brilliance and boring for much of the audience. |

I’ve booked for opening and closing night will probably add more visits at a later date… |

Also booked for opening (as in first preview) and closing night. We are like the same people haha.
HOWEVER, there are some tickets available for PRESS NIGHT!!! So I also grabbed one (cheap and up the back but it's rare for these tickets to be made available to the public). Can't wait!
