Told you so. This has been booked since before the Donmar run ended, as I posted on here several times. It hinged on the director wanting Caissie as I said before. Caissie is returning, by the way. No idea about the rest yet. This wasn’t the case, nothing was confirmed until the week after it closed. And of course the transfer was Caissie dependant, they weren’t transferring it without her! And yet it happened exactly as I heard it would. Next; The Lord of the Rings @ CFT next year.

And yet, the poster (and the one below) is telling you it wasn't confirmed until after the production had closed - and they are right I'm afraid. A number of us were literally discussing it with people involved in the show at the interval of the final show and no venue, dates or casting was confirmed - it all got sorted in the week after the show finished. Thrilled that it now is, and look forward to seeing it again.

So excited to get the chance to see it again! Will be interesting how it feels in a bigger theatre, but definitely going to be making the trip to see it.

The twitter link doesn’t work for me for some reason.. Are they keeping all the cast?

The twitter link doesn’t work for me for some reason.. Are they keeping all the cast? The cast for the transfer has not been announced yet. However, they have announced the creative/tech team behind the production (for example, Nick Barstow - the MD - is staying from the Donmar run).

This news has made my day. After seeing this show on Weds 23rd August, I was immediately desperate to see it again and pleased I had an extra ticket to see it a second time - that second time which turned out to be the doomed matinee, cancelled due to a tech failure. So thrilled for the chance to finally get my second viewing! A year later but I know it'll be worth the wait. Here's hoping the full Donmar cast return. Particularly hoping for Jack Wolfe and Ellie Worthing Cox.

So, I should be booking tickets to see this then?

Great news. Definitely adding it to my list of shows to see next year.

What is it with theatre fans and their obsession with being first/right and 'I told you so's' or the indignation when someone dare question them.
Not aimed at any one poster, See it often on here from a few members and it's just a bit cringe and embaressing. People will get to know who usually has good insider info without the chest puffing and self congratulations.

If you consistently leak news, with zero financial benefit to yourself, only to get grief for fulfilling the very purpose of a forum like this - you wonder what’s the point. I broke the news about this show and LotR and haven’t received a word of thanks as “compensation”. I could go through and quote 50 pieces of info I’ve leaked. Purely done because I love theatre. And yet see the above posters who are absolutely wrong. They’re wrong but it’s a clique mentality. I have no idea who *they* were speaking to but my sources were clearly better or they were being lied to because they are “marks”.

Let’s focus on the what, not the who or how. Or do we have to have a whip round for flowers & Bolly when someone leaks the new 2nd midwife casting?

This thread is wild!
Personally have minimal interest in all the insider knowledge oneupmanship and wait until official announcements before get emotionally invested.
That said, anyone who reads these boards a lot does know which posters generally have reliable info.
Anyway, back on topic. Sort of. Really not a fan on the Wyndham’s. Stalls at Oklahoma, worst legroom have had in years, seat so low felt like sitting on floor and overhang cut off half of stage despite fact wasn’t even that far back. Apart from that had a great time lol.

London cast recording currently ‘greyed out’ on Spotify…

London cast recording currently ‘greyed out’ on Spotify… I believe that’s easy for someone to fake, it’s just a public playlist with someone’s local files that they have renamed. If you look at the profile of the person they also have a playlist that looks like a Newsies UK cast recording.

Wonder if it was uploaded too soon, like the Sondheim’s Old Friends recording.

I really wish this wasn't going to Wyndhams - it's one of my least favourite theatre's in town (the corridors are like 1cm wide, there's no space anywhere) but it does feel strangely intimate in there, so I think it'll work well (I remember watching Fleabag from the very back of the gods and couldn't believe how close it felt)

I think it can work really well at the Wyndham's. Definitely much better than in any of the awful ATG houses

It will be interesting to see how this does at the Wyndhams Theatre. Its one thing to sell in a 250 seat house compared to 800 in its new home. There's no name recognition in the title and if the cast stays the same, no familiar names in the cast. There will be plenty of discounts for this I reckon.

It did sell out its entire run at the Donmar prior to the show even going into rehearsals though so like, there's appetite.
I don't think it's going to be a sell-out, but there'll be a fair number of Olivier noms coming it's way which is handy for the marketing.
I think it'll do reasonable business but it's not going to be a sell out that's for sure.

It's a limited run so it's not like it needs to sell out and become a long runner.

I think it will do phenomenal business and will likely sell out or go very close. It has over six months to sell a huge advance before opening, with Olivier wins to add to the marketing later, in a smallish house on a limited run. And having come off a hugely successful sell out run at the Donmar.
So yeah, all the evidence suggests this will be a smash.

It’s not as well known in the UK and as someone mentioned above, selling out in a small 250 seat studio theatre is very different to selling a west end house. I really enjoyed it at the Donmar and I hope they can secure most of the cast from there - they were all excellent, especially Caissie and Jack.

I always think of Oklahoma though, which is infinitely more well known, and died on its ass for basically its entire West End transfer. Very similar situation - good reviews, strong cast, sold out a small theatre. Lost basically its entire investment and limped through a West End run at the same theatre. Nothings a given.
