Great the show is transferring, saw it in NY and loved it! Glad the cast are transferring too, Jennifer Mudge was perfect as the Witch!

Do the Chocolate Factory do group bookings? I know a good number of people who'll want to see this.

Trailer for the NY production, according to the description it involves only 10 actors and 1 piano!

Excellent - love this type of scaled down production.

Excellent - love this type of scaled down production. Meh, I do sometimes but I do also like a bit of razzle with my dazzle, especially with a musical. I'd like to see that my money has been spent on a bit more than a couple of chairs and a manky piano. Sondheim can be a struggle sometimes so occasionally it's nice to have a flashy set to distract you from thinking "oooh, this bit reminds me of Sweeney Todd/Follies/Company etc".

Who will they cast?
Didn't few a few of the creatives star in it in the states?
I would love to see Samantha Spiro play the Witch

As much as I like the show I'll be skipping this. The menier is stripped back enough, this sounds even more so and all for almost £40.
Also, bringing the whole NYC cast over when I'm sure it could have been cast here

I wonder if the Chocolate Factory will one day do a production of Sweeney Todd? (Not that we are EVER short of Sweeney revivals of course!)...They seem to do all or a lot of Sondheims!

We don't seem that short of Into The Woods revivals either...

I do like the big flashy productions, but often the smaller ones bring something very different out -though I prefer to see them second to the full blown stage show. Don't think I would have enjoyed the performer/musician Sweeney Todd at the Trafalgar Studios so much if I hadn't already seen the bigger version.
I've only seen Into The Woods once at the Royal Opera House - I enjoyed it, but the reviews were mixed so I'd like to see it again - even with a manky piano!

Looks really interesting. Sometimes a scaled down version means that you can really hear the words and realise what a genius SS is. I wonder how they will stage it, possibly traverse or in the round.

This show is being overdone and needs to disappear for a decade or so.. So many productions!! TOO MUCH.

Yeah, I totes knew that but thanks anyway. I'm hoping to twist the OH's arm to spend more money and book this, as I'm yet to see it on stage and the score is sublime to my ears.

Booked!
For a first day it seems to be selling well - my usual seats, centre front of the front row had gone on the dates I wanted. Bum, willy, tit!

Have also booked a preview. That week is Opera North's Ring Cycle week on the Southbank which I am at, so taking a break from 19 hours of Wagner seems like a good idea to me!

I presume in a theatre like this all seats are pretty good? I think I'll go for centre back row.

Booked for the third preview (Saturday night) as I'm in town then anyway for Aladdin matinee.
It's quite nice to have a day with two shows booked and no need to worru over early travel and dayseating commitments.
