Also I forgot to mention last night, if anybody (like me) is interested in the merchandise available they have a decent selection. Large, quality programmes, a few key rings, 2 different t-shirts, a face mask, a patch, a tote bag, a fannypack, and I think there was a stuffed dog toy as well. It all seemed pretty fairly priced imo. Did you notice if there were any fridge magnets? I have moved on from mugs to magnets these days. Some of the merch is available online through Theatre Shop theatre-shop.com/anythinggoes/What I thought was a pin from the photo in the programme, is a magnet according to the online shop. |

One of the best things I've ever seen. 5*, this will clean up all the awards. I can't rave enough. Going to rebook on the train home. Absolutely wonderful. Brilliant. Perfection.

Awesome time watching this.
Audience is loving every minute. The tap dance on the title number got a standing ovation! Though there is a lady next to me oohing, aahing and reacting to a line every few minutes

Must be the post lockdown release but it’s as if everybody wants this to be the best night they’ve had in ages. There was a man a right at the front row who got his phone out and do a sweeping video of the auditorium, getting everyone to wave and cheer
Got rush ticket near the side row p but the view is perfect.
Highlight for me is Sutton Foster and Robert Lindsay one upping each other in Friendship

Blow Gabriel Blow got some on their feet as well
This musical is fluffy as it gets but it’s Cole Porters songs delivered by a first class cast that sells it

Sounds as though this is fantastic. I do hope to get to see it if I can get to London next month.
How do people think it compares to the Elaine Paige Prince Edward and the Sally Ann Triplett National/Drury Lane versions though? I thought both of these were sensational.

This is what I am finding hard to cope with at the moment, I enjoy the things I've seen but I feel like I'm an isolated little bubble of just enjoyment and everyone around me is completely crazy, whooping, cheering, screaming, jumping to their feet. Since this is the Anything Goes topic I probably should talk about it, I did enjoy seeing it, Sutton Foster was definitely the highlight. I have definitely enjoyed several other shows more and weirdly during the interval I had songs from a completely different musical in my head! |

The staging, orchestrations and writing makes this by far the best production of Anything Goes to ever grace the stage. A lot more comedy has been added and the energy is through the roof. I had the wonderful opportunity to see those two previous productions and they might have been superior in terms of vocals (for God's sake its Patti LuPone!) but this one just knocks it out of the water. It's the top! If anyone's interested, Patti sings the title song in 2021! |

That's how I felt tonight at Jersey Boys re: audience going crazy. To be fair it was there this afternoon when I saw Anything Goes to some extent too. I've been thinking about this all afternoon and still can't find anything substantial I'd gripe about here. It's a very obvious 5* production. Superbly cast and holds up extremely well for a musical written in the 1930s! Perhaps I'm somewhat rose tinted after not being in a capacity audience since pre Covid, impossible to judge. How much of the book was rewritten a few years ago? I get the impression there was probably a fair bit of recrafting as some of the jokes would surely never have seen the light of Broadway in the 30s. The only minor, and I mean minor, criticism I could make is the cast were clearly egging the audience on for a big reaction after Blow Gabriel Blow. And a seagull bashed into the set. Other than that, faultless. Oddly enough as you mention it I kept getting sparks from both Singin' In The Rain and The Sound of Music during the interval. |

Anything Goes is just about the perfect show at the perfect time. It's not challenging perceptions, or pushing boundaries. It's not snarky, angst-ridden or surrounded in controversy. It is just amazing fun, suitable for everyone.
A wonderful few hours of OTT escapism - this production of Anything Goes does it brilliantly. The production is world class in all aspects - the lighting, sets, sound, choreography, cast... everything. It is absolutely AAA top notch. I didn't think anything would come close to the spectacle of 42nd Street for a long, long time and even I was shocked to have this absolute smash hit turn up.
What else can be said about Sutton Foster. She gives one of the great all time West End performances. The whole cast were top level though, from Robert Lindsay right through the whole ensemble.
"Anything Goes", "Friendship" and "Blow Gabriel Blow" brought the house down.
The community spirit in the theatre and connection between cast and audience was palpable. They were up there having the time of their lives and the audience and cast were thriving off each other's enthusiasm and energy.
EVERYONE should see this, if they possibly can. While other shows may have unintentionally captured the zeitgeist of 2021 by being underwhelming or even depressing, Anything Goes is the brighter future ahead for theatre and the musical London needs right now.

It's amazing how Anything Goes has stood the test of time and just in the 1930s when it premiered, it's a show that aims to lift the spirits and offer a great night out.

Well it is worth noting the show has been heavily reworked since the 30s, so that’s very clearly helped. In fact, I don’t think the 30s version isn’t even available to put into production nowadays.

Suttons competition is Jessie Buckley in Cabaret, which could be pretty special. But I just can't see anyone doing a better performance this year than Sutton. It's one of my favourite performances of all time...just makes me happy to think about it!

Saw this again this afternoon, and it was just as brilliant as when I saw it last week. There's not a weak area in this production and I can see it winning so many awards. Sutton Foster is the most incredible actress - I'm really lost for words for how good she is. The same for Robert Lindsay - I knew he was good, but I didn't realise how good. There's nothing in London that comes close to this show at the moment. I really hope they film it because this production needs to be captured forever.
