I watched it on the last day it was available (for now). It was ... meh. Incomplete, inconsistent with lighting that may work (barely) on a laptop but I doubt in the theatre. Some good songs (Spellbound, Damn You) and the rest either meh (You Hardly Know Me, Mother Knows Best), forgettable or regrettable. Some songs have words that don't scan - or are crammed in - just not well crafted. David Thaxton and Dawn Hope were quite good. The rest of the cast .... were in different shows. Choreography was ... lacking. That may have been partially because of the Southwark stage area - but that's an easy excuse as the size of the stage would have been known and should have been accounted for. This wanted to be a "modern" fairytale for the family, but is a bit too dark and convoluted to succeed on that basis. This is all just my opinion, of course. Checking the internet, I'm in the minority: TheatreWeekly 5 stars The Stage 4 stars British Theatre - mixed MSN.com - negative BroadwayWorld - 4 stars London Theatre1 - 4 stars Pocket Size Theatre - 4 stars etc.
So, I expect that this will get another life on stage soon...
