I can watch ‘Dinnerladies’ because that’s Brenda, but still can’t watch anything else. The loss is just too great. (Sounds melodramatic but devastated doesn’t cover it).

Wood and Walters were the finest comedy duo ever. Victoria was in my view one of the most talented writers/ actors/ comedians Britain has ever produced. The breadth of her work from comic to serious is outstanding.
Don't have the gateaux, i just saw her scratching her armpit with the cakeslice.( one of my favourite lines)

It's not something I've given much thought to, but would Victoria Wood get commissioned these days? Sadly, I suspect not.
Although she'd tick the regional box, sketch shows and studio based sitcoms, with a few unfunny exceptions, both seem to have fallen out of favour with the powers that be.

I thought I'd seen everything Victoria Wood had done but this was a new one on me. So good. Loved watching these snippets but made me quite sad to think that she is no longer with us and the fact that she had so much more to give us. |

It was absolutely genius but very much of its time. I think she probably realised that as she moved into different types of project and more serious roles like Housewife 49. A huge fave of mine was Pat and Margaret which I guess bridged the gap between comedy sketch and drama. I’m not sure her comedy from the 80’s stands up though, and would love to hear opinions from our younger board members about to what they think. Does anyone under 30 even know who she is? |

The thing that worries me these days is who do young gay men quote chapter and verse?
When I was younger, friends and I could quote lines and even whole sketches from Victoria Wood - it was kind of mandatory in those days.
The more lines you knew, the more respect you had.
Now these poor youngsters don't have anyone to quote.
Sad times!
